F'n dealer! (in a nice way)
Went to look at the Disco 4 as replacement for our Disco 3 yesterday and after a quick test drive didn't think it was much better than the 3 but may be slightly biased as it wasn't as nice as my RRSport.
Salesmen then throws the keys to a FullFatRR 4.4 TDV8 and says bring it back tomorrow!!
Very nice vehicle!
Wrong forum maybe but...we were going to trade both cars for a spec'd up an HSE disco4 but maybe now left thinking "Not as nice as the FullFat!"
I think it would only take the price of a small kidney to get us there. And there is the huge depreaciation, service costs and my membership to the Green Party to consider!
there is no space in the FFRR to wear my hat - no contest!A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

I own both, albeit a petrol FFRR, and it's horses for courses......my D4 gets filled with kids and dogs and mud and half eaten fruit and is a superb allround car (when it's working properly). The RR interior is a properly lovely place to be, the quality is exceptional, and so is the build. The D4 doesn't really come close as a luxury car.2011 D4 Landmark, Mini Cooper SD Clubman, Range Rover Vogue SE

Yes, I know what you mean about the Disco being the utility car. Got into ours after dropping the FFRR and you are greeted by the 'odour de dog' and dirt splashed seats.
The build quality on the FFRR is great and it is true luxury.
At the end of the day I suppose it is comparing apples and oranges.
Not sure it is worth £20K more but if it came down to nearer £10K to swap....might be tempted.
Then again, I would need to talk SWMBO round.

He blames my drive and the ATRs!! I blame the nut behind the wheel. None of us had any problems and SWMBO's car was on 17" Contis!!

When it was time to change our D3, I was really wanting to scratch the FFRR itch. Our local stealer loaned us a MY10 FFRR 3.6TDV8 Vogue SE for the weekend and a D4 HSE the following weekend. As much as I wanted to make the man maths work, I could not justify the extra 25k over the D4. Whilst I appreciate the D4 is not as luxurious as the FFRR, the new interior, motor, suspension and brakes has enabled the Disco to be a much closer competitor to the FFRR.Current:

Keeping to the objective:
Reasons for D4:
a) Seven seats
b) Bigger boot
c) Better mpg (marginally)
d) Friendlier forum
e) And think what else could you do with the money you save: for example buying 10,000 of your closest friends a pint of beer - imagine how happy that would make you
Reasons against:
a)

Yes, I think definitely d) is correct!
a) doesn't bother me but it does help with b) which with 3 labs is good. I think the jury is out on c)
With regards to e) Where would I find these 10,000 people to share the beer with me!?!?
Also thinking when the roads are really bad (snow etc) sliding down the road bouncing off tress is never a good thing but in a Disco you feel slightly better. (Well, I used to feel better in our 90 compared to when we used to have a L322 TD6).
And SWMBO did mention something about a new kitchen.....I Have to say I spend more time in the car....
I still hate the dealer for making me drive it!

PS We have a 9 week old black lab puppy, and SWMBO asked where are we taking him today to help socialise him......
....I said the Land Rover dealer! This may well be my last post

Well if it helps at all, I went from a D3 V8 HSE to a FFRR TDV8 Vogue.
1. More comfy by a country mile
1. Just as capable for towing and off road antics
3. I always wanted one.
4. I really miss the huge boot and 7 seats.
Having tried the D4 it is a massive improvement over the D3 in terms of interior quality. Very tempted and like you say, 20 grand cheaper. Having gotten used to the TDV8 though with its massive torque I'm not sure what I'd do next time. Now if only they would fit the TDV8 in the D4
