I suppose that you were right in that you would need to calculate the quantity based on a percentage of 9.5 litres, but....
....the auto box is filled "to dripping" - in other words, the position of the fill hole is such that when it has the full amount of fluid in the box with the engine running, it will start to drip out of the fill hole....
This means that you won't physically be able to fit any more Active8/ATF mix in unless you drain some out first.
One option would be to perform (seeing as how you will need to drain some ATF out anyway) a simple drain and fill (not a double fill/flush), removing whatever comes out (4-5 litres aprox) and then refilling it with a mix of new ATF and your "special sauce" . (i.e. 4.5 litres of ATF that includes enough Active8 to cover 9.5 litres).
Actually I would probably try and put in the full amount of Active8 required during the first 2-3 litres and then just add pure ATF until it starts dripping out.
Not only will this enable you to fill to the correct level, but it will also allow you to make sure that you get the correct percentage of Active8 in there too....and as a bonus, you'll have some fresh ATF in there which probably won't do it any harm anyway.
I'm not sure if I've explained myself properly
If you haven't done an ATF drain/fill before, don't be put off - it is very easy to do - just remember that during the initial (engine off) fill, you'll only get a couple of litres in....you must then start the engine and after a few minutes, start going through the selector (pausing for a few seconds in each P - R - N - D) a few times and then continue filling with the engine running in P....this will allow it to "suck up" enough ATF to enable you to get the rest in.2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

D3 having all it's lubrication oils changed next week ...
I'm not doing it, it's in the Dealers and the change of lubricants is part of the 150k service schedule.
So, it won't cost me in time, elbow grease and money.

Excuse me for stepping in and maybe treading on a toe or two. Although a pure novice to the finer points of all things D3, is there any wisdom in putting an additive into an automatic gearbox? I thought an automatic gearbox with its small oilways for the control sections could easily be blocked and cause a failure of said unit? Run silent, run deep!! I would think very carefully before putting any additives in the D3 Auto. There have been failures caused by using the wrong ATF. It is very sensitive to the ATF used.
Also the Transfer case has a clutch in it as well so not like other TCs.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
