Might be a duff alternator, or even a loose battery or earth connection.

I tightened the battery conncetion up & tried it again, "park brake failure" on display then clicking noise / wont start / flat battery.
Is there an earth wire somewhere to check ? if so where is it located

There are plenty of earth points, but have you tested the battery first?

Multimeter would surely be a good start. Low voltage would however not tell if the battery is dead or is the battery basically still OK but alternator faulty and thus not charging the battery...
My previous battery when it started giving a bit similar symptoms gave some 12+ V at battery poles when not run flat, but obviously must have dropped rapidly when trying to start the engine. I was unable to be measuring under the bonnet however, when turning the ignition key
(Before you ask how to test the alternator: it would be so easy if the engine was on, because then the voltage at battery poles should be something close to 15 V. But how to test easily when the engine does not start, sorry I do not know.)
