Actually, looking at your last couple of posts, it would appear that you're going through a proxy server which is hopping between different IP addresses, so the forum can't keep track of you!

I will monitor your posts Shocked and see how many IPs you are using and see if I can sort a workaround for you Smile

This post is from home. So should be a stable IP address. I will keep posting from work to try and help you out. I can't believe I have to tear myself away from my busy coffee drinking schedule to help the forum IT dept Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter . Good job I'm not on piece rate for work. Whistle

See the MOD has spent some money on the new system. As a side comment, I may also frequent Innovate4x4 and Devon 4x4 whilst drinking coffee at my desk and I have no problems logging in automatically when I visit the sites

Can't stay logged in...

Hi, Martin (and others).

I have (and always have had) a fixed IP address, but recently (= last 2 weeks) my "keep me logged in" status drops out.

It is usually whilst I am not active on the forum; today it logged me out half way through writing a post - when I logged back in all my pearls of wisdom Rolling Eyes had vanished!! Big Cry Big Cry

Is that a forum problem, or something at my end?

Andy

Hi Andrew,

There have been no forum changes, so as you say in your other thread it either points to a browser (Safari 5) issue or it may just be related to forum cookies. Have you tried anything with deleting cookies?

Deleting cookies? Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry I've got too sweet a tooth for that!!!

But seriously, the answer is NO; I have never deleted a cookie except as part of some software driven clearout. Is it possible to identify a cookie as relevant to a particular website / page? can one delete cookies singly? And in fact - where the heck ARE the cookies on a Mac?? To a PC-literate oldie who cut his teeth on MSDOS 3 and Windows 3.1.x, the location of important files on a Mac is very obscure...

But I will look, search, swear a bit and find some. failing that I will commit mass cookie slaughter and see the effect Very Happy

Thanks

Andrew

Hi Martin

This is from my PC.

I've just got a new MacPro and try as I might, I can't login to the site. I am using Firefox
and the Mac OSX Lion 10.7.4

I just get a message word telling me that user name is inactive/incorrect or the password is invalid. Curiously enough, there is no "Options" in the Firefox system to access the Cookies.

In addition, I get a message saying" Additional Plug-ins are required to dispaly all the media on this page.

When I click the button "Install Missing Plug-Ins" i get the message " No suitable plugins were found"

Any suggestions?

Regards

Bill Wright

Hi Bill,

The only plugin the site would ask for is the Flash plugin when displaying certain sponsor banners.

The login issue is a cookies problem, I did create a tool to clear this but I now have to find it... leave it with me Embarassed
