Fixed-price servicing
I have booked our 2016 D4 in for service in a couple of weeks time at a main dealer (I still have a short period of LR warranty, so just in case.......), and when I mentioned the “fixed-price” servicing, I was asked whether I wanted that or to “just sort it on the day”? I then asked if there was a difference, to which the response was, “we just do a visual check of things on the fixed-price service”, but stupidly I didn’t dig any more.
Does anyone know what is presumably missed on the fixed-price service, and/or is it worth going for the “standard” one (and of course, what is the price difference)? As far as I am aware there are no issues (I’ve done it now!!!), although I will have a look using my IID-BT before it goes in just in case.
Thanks.

Surely LR dealers should be following LRs schedule if performing a service.

My Indy told me that when he worked at a main dealer, they used oils from the cheaper end of the spectrum. He's already way cheaper than the dealer and I've no reason to doubt him.2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze

they will just mark the service history as being a full/interim service, so if you do have any issues with things that should have been done if you were paying the full price you can go back to them.
I had full service and belts done last September just after I got my LR. It hadn't had a LR service since it was 3 years old but was specialist services for the remainder. The belts on fixed price servicing were on a par with the indy prices so I went to LR for convenience more than anything else.
2 days later it had to go back in to have the body off to replace the HPFP tensioner bolt that had sheared.
When I told trusted indy what the belts had cost he said he couldn't get anywhere near the LR fixed price so called the local dealer (not the one I went to) and they quoted ££££££ more to do both belts, as the fixed price belt change was only the main front belt. My invoice said both belts had been done.
Our thoughts were that on LR fixed price servicing, they do the bear minimum they can get away with and play a law of averages if anything goes wrong.
if that is correct then they certainly shot themselves in the foot with mine as when it went back in they had for 10 days and had to take the body off
So IMO if your still in warranty then get LR to do the service under fixed price scheme, and if anything goes wrong from that then your covered regardless2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

At £515 it certainly isn’t cheap! I contacted a new Indy in Mansfield (I think you’ve used the RogB), who quoted £375 using LR parts or £325 for non-LR parts. In the past I’ve always used an Indy at Chesterfield and always had a WD warranty, which is the way that I’m likely to go once the LR warranty has run out.
Thanks for the replies.

so Cradgebanks (Richard) came in at £375 for a main service, which is the same price as the LR fixed price interim service... I know who I would rather trust personally.2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Just collected our car from Land Rover Diagnostics Ltd (Cradgebanks) as recommended by RogB. Great service by an enthusiast (Richard), so I know where it’ll be going from now on! Good call RogB!

I think that in different times we’d have spent hours chatting! I think you hit the nail on the head there, Richard is first and foremost an enthusiast, and puts his enthusiasm into his business.
