Well I've taken it all apart Dave ...my only concern is that the transfer module seemed "overly" protected ...I didn't want to just sling it out of the way without others advising.

Hi DG and if I had seen your post I might have been of some assistance but GLYNNE’s pictures came to your rescue.

For anyone else considering mounting the second battery as such, here is a link that gives some additional module relocation info.

While this is a LHD Disco, the reverse work just as well.

Much easier time installing the battery in the Au D4, as no fuel burning heater. Also used a blue top instead of a yellow top to eliminate the need for terminal clamps; two less points of failure, as the eyelets fits the screw post on the blue tops perfectly (and the blue top should come with wings nuts for it).

Thumbs Up What is the likelihood of failure through the terminal clamps ? Also is the Blue top as appropriate as the Yellow top for the intended usage Confused ? Smile

Not very likely, you are actually more likely to have a wing nut come loose.

I remove the wing nuts from the battery terminal clamps I supply with my kits because they sit too high and touch the cover when you put it back on the auxiliary battery compartment.

Besides, a bolt will give a tighter connection and is less likely to come loose. NOTE this is a personal preference.

The specs are exactly the same (actually the red top too). If anything, being for marine use, I'd say it would have superior vibration and corrosion resistance.

My personal preference is to have as few parts and joints as possible; also the more joints, the more likely for losses due to poor contact. The way the wing nuts lock on is vertically; not that easy to loosen with vibration (hence their use in marine application).
