When assembling just think: Copperslip, copperslip, copperslip. Lashings of if otherwise when you come to take it off the bolts through the chassis will be a real, real pain.

Hi. I read your post and would really like to know if you managed to obtain these bolts and if so from where. I think I have the very same issue. William

I have the same problem on my new to me 06MY. Some one has removed the towbar and taken all the fixings. The weights are swinging around but are held in place by a smaller bolt. I tried to get some replacement bolts from TLO but he sya they are not available as a spare part.
Does anybody have any other info such as length and diameter of tube, grade of bolt etc. A picture would be fantastic.

Witter towbar
Guys, and gals, I am in desperate need of advice, I traded my d3 for a D4 and when I took the witter towbar off my D3 i didn't remove the pesky m14 chassis bolts! Needless to say my d4 doesn't have them and land rover don't sell them unless you buy a whole towbar!!!! Any suggestions where I can buy them, please reply to this post, to keep marital harmony......

Speak to TLO you can get just the fixing kit if you look up the parts under D3, they are listed separately for the D3 but under D4 you got to buy the complete tow bar MY18 RRS Autobiography Fuji White

make your own
Hi I went to local lookers for a price for the landrover bolts, I lost interest when they wanted £90 so went home and made my own. They cost me £4.50 for the nuts and bolts and i had the other bits in my shed, half an hour with a welder and Bobs your Uncle.

Sorry for the thread resurrection!
I've managed to acquire Tow Trust fixed towbar for my MY8.5
Doesn't come with the bolt sleeves for the chassis mount, anyone any idea where I can buy them?
I've emailed Tow Trust but not sure if they'll be operating during the apocalypse

Are the bolts not already in the chassis on the d3?

Hi Andy, I suspect you have a 2008.5MY or later car. I had this problem too. From 2008.5 onwards, the bolts were no longer fitted in the chassis rails. My Witter towbar came with both bolts and a sleeve for each one which you have to insert into the hole in the chassis, where the bolts used to be on the older model. This hole has a keyhole shape on one side of the chassis rail. It allows you to insert the sleeve. I did this with the bolt and towbar arm in the hole from the other side as I was worried about dropping the sleeve into the rail and losing it. The sleeve enables you to tighten the bolts without distorting the chassis I guess.
If you look in my gallery there are a couple of pictures showing this. Insert the sleeve into the larger bit of the keyhole and then offer up the bolt from the other side. I hope that helps you.
I tried to fit the witter towbar today and to me it seems the tubes are too long. Tried poking the long bolt through the small holw so i could slide to tube on and it wouldnt drop into position in the small hole.

Witter tow bar sleeves
I've had that same problem today. The spec on the fitting sheet says that the sleeves are 88mm long. Both mine were 88.7mm long. No wonder they didn't fit!
I've turned them down to 88mm and hopefully will get them to slot in tomorrow.
