fitting tomtom to d3

Hi
I've tried to have a look thr previous postings but haven't found the answer to "How do i physically mount a TomTom in the dash on a D3 "S".
Do I need TomTom's permanent mounting kit or can the screen suction mount be made fit? Any other thoughts on hard wiring electric supply please ?
Cheers
Nigel Davies.

I have a tomtom go 300 and it fits without any mounting perfectly to where the higherspec LR nav unit would go. Never moves.

One thing I did was purchase the black surround for a more intergrated fit and therefore I hope stop any lightfingered Censored from taking it.

See my gallery for pictures

It works perfectly

Have you got a shot with surround in place? Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I think what Ian might be saying is that you can change the silver surround on the facia of the Tomtom unit with a black replacement - the surrounds just clip on and off.

I did the same and it certainly does make the unit less conspicuous to prying eyes - although I would still recommend removal of the unit in medium \ high risk areas.

I don't have any pictures to hand - but I can put some on later this week perhaps.

Ah - I've re-read the post and I agree with you - I though perhaps that this was a black panel which fits into the slot, through which the tomtom was mounted thus making it look like it was built in.

I guess a bespoke fitted surround is feasible to fabricate for the Tomtom unit - for those with the knack for DIY of course - bit cack handed meself Confused
