Fitting powerfold mirrors

Tried to search for this with no success so apologies if already covered. Is it possible to fit (or have the dealer fit) powerfold mirrors to a D3 S?

I've been looking into this myself, and I don't think it can be done.

looking at the d3 wiring dig there is a fold back module that is need aswell as the folding mirror assembly.

I will check the what wires and the plug config on my D3 later

I had my dealer look into this when I bought mine.... the answer came back that it is factory fit only

To be fair the mirrors don't actually fold in THAT much - they were on my MUST HAVE list when buying but I dropped that requirement when I saw how little they fold in

I don't believe they can physically fold any more than what you can do manually - the swivel point is too near the body - the depth (front to back) of the mirror casing is such that it fouls against the mount. Now since this is a factory fit option only - the powerfold ones may be manufactured differently and fold further - I don't know the answer to that Confused

I've found it to be a very useful option, particulary when passing on narrow lanes & parking in car parks. I missed it when I had a "loaner" S for a week.

mine has them and are a godsend around here where i live as locals tend to like damaging them after a few drinks.
Any way with them folded in they don't stick much further out than your wheel arches or door protectors?.

If I am in a normal size parking bay I fold the mirrors....sometimes the extra few inches of gap could save a nasty attack from white van man....

Well I got the "white van man" back the other day with my LHS D3 mirror.

I still came off second best and had to purcashe a complete LHS mirror assembly. No damagee to the van's mirror Confused

Folding would be nice but still would not have saved me on this occasion. Crying or Very sad

I had my local dealer retro fit powerfold mirrors after the vehicle was delivered. They weren't sure whether it was possible to begin with, but they found a way.
Expected them to fold in a little tighter but they seem make all the difference...

Very useful in tight spaces Shocked espically going through narrow country lanes.

Mine are semi-auto fold.

I just run them into a tree and they fold in!

Jamo - your car must have been built by the same team that assembled mine. I had a PDC at the front, I call it a bumper!! <g>

Actually, I discovered that with the rear PDC.

When backing up the driveway towards the Suby it started beeping, the beeping got faster it, it then went to a solid beep and then when I was really close, it went to a loud bang! Shocked Embarassed
