Fitting Outback Draw System

Hi guys,
i just spent the afternoon fitting a draw system to the back of the D3. Its made by Outback Imports and i have to say a nice piece of kit. i thought of making something to do the job myself and i am glad i did'nt now.

It arrived on a pallett pre assembled, it is made from folded and welded steel that has been galvanised and then covered with carpet to stop stuff ratteling around in it.

When i first opened it i noticed loads of really tough looking bearings held on by 10mm bolts, everything has lock nut on and there are nylon bump stops with rubber inserts in them to stop the drawers from ratteling.

Basically there is two draws 760x420x200 deep the top of the box is split into two halfs the left had side is fixed whilst the right hand side is designed to have a fridge attached to it so it slides out.

Everything fits together really tightly with no rattles at all, the sliding lid is releced by a really clever catch that becomes free when the right hand draw is opened by 5mm.

My main reason for fitting this sort of system is that it enables my to use more of the rear space, i can still get the same amount of stuff in the back only now it is 200mm higher and i have gained two draws

Smashing Chris 8) Thumbs Up ...I take it there's a contingency for accessing the spare tyre lowering mechanism?

Sure is, they give you a socket on a custom legnth bar that fits in before you bolt it all down. it has a 22mm head on it so you just wind it down in the usual way.

Excuse my butting in to your topic.
I am not yet an Disco owner, but I have a Disco commercial ordered, long wait.
I am very impressed with the work you do to your vehicle, especially the Draw system you have just installed.
I realise that it took you a lot of time & patience to find the information on the above system, but could you give me a link to your supplier of the Draw System.
I have spent hours looking at British van liners etc: but nothing comes close to the system you fitted.

Thanks Rab. Bow down Bow down Mr. Green Thumbs Up
