I started my disco today, drove somewhere close by, stopped, started again and drove home!

Happens that way 4 times out of 5!

I found that it was more the vibration and less the actual torque that did the trick. Although its been mentioned I could of done it without the air tool I think they really benefited from being shaken about a bit and then torque being applied when the plug started to move. With a simple hand ratchet its just straight torque without the vibration and I'm sure this would of damaged them.

Had a thought that a cordless drill/driver with torque setting will likely do the same job...
There's all sorts of chuck fittings available these days, so would probably work okay using a long reach M8 socket.

It obviously won't say:

'ACME Glow Plug Removal Tool' on the box tho'.[/u]
