fitting of multi-height towbar
Hi - Having removed one of the bolts that are on the inside face of the chassis to attached the first of the support bars for the towbar -I was not able to re-insert the bolt as it did not realign with the bolt that comes through the chassis from the outer face. In order to do so I tried undoing the bolt that comes in from the outer face, and I then tried to force the framing that was secured by the bolt removed but again the bolt would not screw in. Whilst I do not think that this framing is the main culprit stopping the bolt to go in, its slight misalignment does not help.
Does any one have any advice, PLEASE.
I think the framing supports the ballast weights
I think quite a few, self included have had a bit of trouble. but the follow three point should help.
loosening of the nut on the outside of the chassis rail should allow the threaded tube within the chassis rail to move around.
The removal of the spare wheel helps you get your arm and bolt in the right position.
You could also try grinding a lead om the bolt, say the first 3 threads. if you do, putting a nut on the bolt before grind/ filing helps clean the threads up (when the nut is removed).

If you have held the small 'flats' on the outboard end and undone the nut, thus leaving the threaded part inside the chassis loose, I'm afraid it is just a case of persevering til you get the bolt started. I had trouble aligning mine, even after loosening it all off, spare wheel down out the way and hernia giving exertion needed, got there in the end. Good Luck.
