Hello, that'll been fuse 16e 10 amp at engine bay fuse box, that's the heated glass one.
Can you check for voltage at you door harness where it goes to the mirror adjust switch, it's a green with pink tracer wire and is at plug terminal 6
Then when operating the switch look for current at connector wires to the mirror, black with blue tracer is up down working in conjunction with the grey white.
Black with pink tracer is left right working in conjunction with the grey white.
Also check the earth's for mirror harness and the earth at the switch, obviously black wire at pin 4
I assume you've got both mirrors rigged up on car, were they working before with the old ones fitted?
If you're still stuck pm me your mobile number and I'll try to help.

Forgot to add I've done a few sets now and they've been no problem, hopefully we will find your problem

If there's no power then you may need to trace the supply back down the harness. I've seen door harness plugs with corrosion on the terminals, these plugs are awkward to check and door removal is really needed to get the large connector out through the A pillar. Do your tests first before going down this route though.

Hi there,

Thanks for all your help. I'll get my multi meter out this evening. I had the power fold working earlier and the up and down but now nothing at all for some reason. Its as if a fuse has gone but all the ones ive checked are fine.

Thanks for posting those! I’m hopeless at wiring diagrams though Laughing

Hi,

Ok so I have a 12volt reading with ignition on at the mirror switch wire Green with Pink tracer. But no power to any of the adjustment wires when moving the switch...?

I have also checked the grounds and can get a good 12volt reading from the green and pink constant feed in the switch using the black and black with blue tracer wire in the mirror harness...so I’m guessing that’s all ok . Big Cry

Ok so power in is good, with reference to the wiring diagram the power is then sent out from switch on black blue wire for up down adjustment then returns signal via grey white wire back to switch to earth using the switches earth wire can you test continuity at the switch terminals for this obviously when moving the switch up and down. Check resistances. Have you any photos showing the 3 wires to the adjustment motor behind the glass. Worth unplugging and checking resistances on each of the new mirrors wires from each end to ensure they're ok. Beep test them but you need to look for resistances in each one.

If say the switch is suspect then I have a spare powerfold one

Really stumped with this on. Resistance tests are coming back to show that the wires are ok and there voltages tests are showing voltage to the plug... All fuse have been checked again and are fine.. Big Cry

Are you able to plug the old mirrors back in and verify if they are working? Just it might help as a process of elimination. If the old ones work then it would point towards a problem with the upgrade mirrors. It's a shame your so far away or I'd pop over to help

Ok so old mirror back on and wiring works but I think the switch may well of gone...? when I continuity tested it it just shows as open regardless of position of switch. old mirrors also don't operate with switch but move freely if live is given to them.

To confirm the switches operations look into the back of switch and you'll see it is numbered 1 to 8.
Here's what the pins are for......
Beep test between the pins as mentioned and operate switch to confirm..
Left hand mirror

Pin 6 and pin 1 is up
Pin 6 and pin 2 is left and also down
Pin 6 and pin 7 is right

Right hand mirror

Pin 6 and pin 2 is up
Pin 6 and pin 3 is left and also down
Pin 6 and pin 5 is right

Switch set to centre position

Pin 6 and pin 8 is fold in and fold out

Try all these functions with care and check resistances of each. If all are ok the switch is fine. If you remove the switch plug you can mimic the switch function using a paperclip to jump the relevant terminals in the plug. If you can make all the functions work you've found the problem. Good luck and go have a cuppa.

Thanks for all this.

I’ve just been and tried the paper clip trick. I was only able to make the mirrors fold in and out twice. This function will now not reoccur all fuses checked again. I was unable to make the mirror glass move on either side.
