First impressions on my ex-demo D4 (and I like it - so far!) |
|
Picked up the new D4 (well, ex-demo) on Thursday at noon and loving it. Thanks Harwoods LR:
Disco 4 HSE with:
Black metallic
20" 10 split spoke alloys
Sun Protection Glass rear of B pillar
Heated steering wheel
Cooler box in the front arm rest
I-pod connectivity lead
Black side rubbing strips on the doors
Front & rear mud flaps
Had only got 1,700 miles on the clock despite being on their demo fleet since January 22. And they'd only added 200 miles since I test drove it and put my deposit down on it 5 weeks ago.
Added some mud flaps after all, and really pleased with the finished look.
First impressions:
1. Fairly punchy acceleration – even coming from a 2007 335d saloon
2. LOVE the air-suspension. Cant stop playing with it! Lift going up….
3. Cubby holes in the “boot†very useful – not realised how much stuff I used to have “under†the boot in the 3 series, which needed a home.
4. Being 6ft 3â€, easy to knock your foot on the plastic sticky-out bit of the seat base and on the cup holder door pocket when getting out
5. Awesome presence on the road
6. Reversing camera is wicked!
7. Sound system good
8. Sat Nav is actually really good – feared it wouldn’t be a match for the BMW Professional system – but I like it!!!
9. Voice recognition very good – beats a 2007 BMW by a long way
10. Shame you cant scroll through the phone book with the buttons on the wheel (or can you?)
11. Windscreen gets covered in bugs real quick – already been to Halfords to buy some ‘special’ washer fluid extra ingredient to help clear this
12. Armrests are a must have – so glad I could just scrape to an HSE by going the ex-demo route
14. Auto full beam on/off – been working ok, passengers well impressed
15. Car looks awesome – well happy with it in black (the only true colour for a car)
16. How sad am I – I actually used the heated steering wheel and liked it.
17. Wished I’d been able to get a full size spare for £120!!! Still looking for someone selling one 20†LR D4 wheel / tyre separately for a fair price. Don’t mind alloy scrapes / worn tyre – its just for back-up
18. Economy – hmmmmmmm, going to be filling up a lot
19. Wished the Harmon Kardon system allowed the sound to be varied a bit - an old Beemer I had let you make it sound like a concert hall inside, and such... Would have been a nice toy.
20. And finally – PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be reliable. (don’t disappoint me in comparison to my BMW) 747_JK

Did you get it from Harwoods Pulborough? If so, I think I've driven your car!
Congrats - I can't be more please with mine.

Now that would be weird... and most likely! But no, this was not from the Pullborough franchise. 747_JK

You can adjust the sound system by pressing the music note button beneath the touchscreen. Sad to say that I have only just discovered this after six months Paul

I'm picking my Buck Blue HSE up from Pulborough on Sat! Cannot wait - it's been sitting there for 10 days while I've been trying to get a flight home from Cape Town. 2010 D4 HSE

Ooh, enjoy! I expect you'll get invited to the Harwoods Experience events on 15/16th May - you get half a day of off-roading, clay pigeon shooting and hog roast at the Harwood estate. Can't wait!

Shame, I'm doing Sunday afternoon (nothing can compete with himself's cricket!).
Have you had details through yet? I send back the card, but haven't heard anything since.
