fire behind battery compartment |
|
Hi everyone I am currently looking to buy a 2006 d3 s which has had a fire behind the battery compartment. It looks to me as if the transfer control box module has cought fire somehow. Has anyone heard of this happening of was it just a freak accident or maliscios (you know what i mean)? I think i am competant enough for the wiring etc but would like to know what caused it if possible?
Thanks Gav.

I looked at my own d3 but on mine at least there seems to be nothing out of the ordinary down there. but that dosn't say this one was the same.

hi m8, ive repaired a few fire damaged cars over the years....it can be done, but you tend to find the fire shorts out so much it damages other modules etc and you end up with a nightmare!
good luck!

The battery breather becomes blocked causing battery acid to go all over the TBox ECU which eventually causes an electrical fire. Engine ECU is also behind the TBox ECU.
