Just off to collect it now Very Happy

But have to endure several hours on the train to get from Petersfield to Havant Sad

I plan to lighten the pain of the journey a little by actually being the nutter on the train rather than end up sitting next to one.
I've got my Marmite on toast wrapped in foil to deter non-like minded people from wanting to sit near me, and have a couple of my more hardcore motorcycle magazines to read which may put off some people from sitting next to me.

Nasher.

Well, what a long day!

Firstly I'd like to thank Nigel for the offer of a lift, but by the time he managed to get hold of me by phone my Son had woken up and offered to take me. The kind offer really was appreciated.

Traffic, B****y traffic, the whole way to Bristol and back, and especially at the Bristol end.

So I only got home about an hour ago, but had a fantastic comfortable journey home.

I'm really pleased with it, and will have a much better scoot round it in the light tomorrow, when hopefully the rain will stop.
It really is a big step up from my 55 plate D3HSE.

One thing though, I've now realised just how useful that tray in front of the gear lever was in the D3!

Where do you put your sunglasses(Not that I needed them today) and phone in a D4 if the cup holders have cups in them?

Nasher.

Great I knew you would love it.

Glasses - Volvo make a clip; I'll search for the part number.

Phone - I have a mount; landscape mode, to use with Waze or Google Maps, much better than JLR's SatNav.

Merry Christmas

My thoughts a couple of weeks in.

It’s wonderful, I can’t believe how much nicer it is to drive than my D3 HSE, although some of that is probably due to the D3 having 232K miles under it’s wheels.

The interior is so nice, as well as all the local stuff I’ve done a couple of over 100 mile trips and a very short length of green lane near home, all of which it of course coped with as well as expected, and I got out at the end of the long journeys feeling as if I’d been sat in it just a few minutes.

I haven’t towed anything with it yet, but have plugged in a trailer board to see that everything is set up correctly, which it is. I had to buy a 13Pin adaptor as my boat trailer and spare light boards are all twin 7 pin electrics.
I considered changing the electrics to twin 7 pin, but will change the boat trailer plug to 13 pin instead I think.
I’ve also made up my mind that I am going to fit the Fixed towbar I took off my D3 instead of using the removable one that came with the D4. But need to give it a coat of paint first.

The reversing camera is far more useful than I ever expected it to be.

I’ve fitted the RLD spare wheel saver that I brought from another member on here.
And also the mudflaps that I still can’t believe a D4HSE Lux doesn’t come with as standard.

I’ve uploaded 10 CDs to the memory but not yet sorted out streaming music from my phone. More phone stuff in a minute, although my phone has connected to the Bluetooth OK.
I’m enjoying being able to listen to Planet Rock on DAB.
I thought the Logic7 system in the D3 was good, but having tuned the Meridian surround system to my type of music in the D4, I’m really happy with the sound.

The Dog appears to like it, and the boot bag I now have is catching any mud and fur.

Lady Nasher hasn’t been brave enough to drive it yet, but I’m sure that will change as she used to enjoy driving the D3.
In the mean time she’s liking the interior as a passenger, and actually sat in the back for one longer journey and tested the rear entertainment with Frozen on DVD.

Whilst ‘between Discos’ I purchased a few toys to add:

Altox GPS FBH Controller – My BAS one for the D3 won’t work in a D4 - I’ve found where to connect it in the boot, but am now stuck as my 8yr old smartphone won’t download the app. Also there are no instructions at all in English in the box, so I don’t know what to do next.

I used a Nanocom Evo with the D3, but have purchased a used GAP IID from somebody on here which I can’t re-register yet because again my old phone won’t download the App.

I dumped the Ebay special cheap front and back dashcam from the D3 and brought a Blackvue, again back and Front.
Again my phone won’t talk to it.

I’ve now upgraded to a new phone, but having chaged contracts as well I’m waiting for my old number to be moved over to it before I go too far with adding stuff.
The porting of my old number has been held up by the number of bank holidays and the fact that Onecom are being a pain about releasing it.
But once that’s done I’ll sort out all of the above.

Sime very minor niggles:
Has anyone else noticed that the Load Cover in the boot has reduced in quality from the early D3 one?
The one in the D4 feels cheap, thinner, and doesn’t roll in and out as smoothly as the one in my D3.
Luckily I kept the one from my D3 when it went off to the breakers, so I will give it a good clean and swap them over.

Start Stop Button. If I turn the lights off manually when I get home at night before stopping the engine the backlight on the start stop button goes out and I can’t see it to press it in the dark. I should just leave them in Auto I suppose.

Start Stop. Having just typed the above I’ve realised the engine doesn’t stop-start at all! Perhaps the secondary battery is failing, or is there a way it could have been disabled?

Storage. No small cubby in front of the gear lever, plus the top glovebox and the offside storage bin in the boot are smaller than on the D3.

But one big niggle – No front Parking sensors!
I didn’t even realise there were none until after I got it home, and just assumed they’d be there. Looking at HSE Luxs on Autotrader it appears a lot of them don’t have them.

Overall of course I am over the moon with it.

Nasher.

I can't believe it doesn't have front parking sensors - even with surround I thought it came with them. Only GS and Commercial IMO didn't have front parking

do you not the parking sensor holes highlighted above (the others sit on the outer non painted bumper)?

The picture on the first page shows them?

Remember they only come on when you select reverse, or press the button on the dash.

Actually, your post made me pop out to the car park at work and look at the front of the car.

They are there! but I'd only looked from a distance when I thought about it, and they are nowhere near as obvious as on the D3, almost invisible from a distance.
I can't believe I hadn't seen them when I looked from the house the other day.

In that case they are not very good then as they don't appear to see other cars in car parks.

Will change my name to Stupid of Clanfield!

It is possible that they’re disabled in CCF... one can disable front or front & back.
