Finally got to use my tow rope!
After storing the tow rope in the car since the last group buy, I’ve not had to use it. Had a near miss earlier this week when a lady was broken down at some lights but it was an auto so thought best not to drag it along
Fast forward to today and Canada Common in the New Forest where I find a young lad had got his hire car trapped by the support rope of a telegraph pole in his near side rear wheel arch He couldn’t move forward or back but I was able to help shift him sideways a foot so he could get free and go home to lick his wounds. Good deed done before dog walk so thanks MrH for organising the sale

A good deed indeed! King of the typo.
MY11 D4 5.0 V8, Bournville, lots of goodies!
Now departed: '85 RR Vogue, '94 D1, '95 D1, '70 SIIA, '97 D1, '04 D2a. All V8, except for the SIIA - but that drank as much petrol anyway!

Used my tow rope and Series 3 to tow a car out of a snowdrift on the A9 Drumochter Pass in 1984. It was a taxi and driver from Manchester. Don’t ask. I didn’t. Wasn’t polite. Mind it was well before satnav. 2014 MY Discovery XS Indus Silver. Sadly gone. Second last LR of forty eight years continuous ownership.

Seriously good ropes, used mine in anger a good few times when playing. Most useful in the sandy places.

I think MrH said it would be the last group buy he organised but the company he used I’m sure would be up for someone else to setup a new group buy to drive some sales Stolen - D4 Loire Blue

Yup not doing another GB myself, 3 was enough, but don’t let that stop you running one.
Company is Lifting & Crane in Gloucester LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

I have a couple of the group buy ropes. The 10m hasn't been used but the 5m was used to pull a Saab out of a too-deep ford...
My snow tows have all been using my Halfords rope, by some coincidence.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

I keep the 5m one in the D4 permanently, in case I get stuck. The 10m rope is in the loft so will prob get round to flogging it, along with Takla, Entels and other off-road stuff. Just got to get organised.

Thanks
No rush just as and when - have managed for many years with an old Halfords one! Having said that the Disco has got much more pulling power and a low box over my previous Freelander and other ordinary cars.
