Either your lie-o-meter on the dash is set too optimistically OR you're not driving it correctly.
First tank syndrome - though I did just knock it into S mode on the way back to work so things may be changing

Yes the 3 buttons are for the memory seat. Ignition on, Set your seat to the desired position with the key you use. Press and hold the number 1 key on the door and it will say "memory position 1 stored" on dash. Do the same with the spare key for another position then if you each have a key the seat will set to the desired position when you unlock
If i remember correctly it also sets door mirrors and radio settings
The Timed climate will run the FBH for about 20mins and open vents to preheat the engine and warm interior. It won't get warm but takes the chill off on cold mornings. You can add a remote plip to turn it on from the house too

dont forget when you program the presets that each door numbered pre set is PER KEY
so setting 1 programmed with say your key can / will be different positions to number 1 on the other key
reason for saying this is im 6 ft and the wifes ony 5 ft ..i couldnt find my key once and was in a hurry so grabbed hers jumped in hit 1 and almost got pinned to the steering wheel !!
i now have set number 3 on her key to my settings and vice versa for her on mine so next time i nick her key / swap drivers we just have to remember to hit 3 MY05 SE D3 Manual my first LR what a car

When you park it up it will drop down overnight, no need to set it in access mode.
AFAIK the key doesn't recharge.
If your car drops down overnight, you have an issue. It should stay in whatever setting you have it in

Thanks, mine seems to make a little air release noise when I lock the car but the height seems to remain the same.

A little update, just clocked over 2500 miles in first month, such a lovely car to drive soaks up the long commute well!
did it's first camping trip as well, so nice not to have a roof box, the children were happier with out all the bags on their laps for the first time ever camping.
Spend so far New tyres all round and Bodsy changed the Gearbox oil

Nice little update on the D4 - Mileage on around 127k now So I've added around 55k on her so far.
we upgraded the tent to a Caravan and it happily pulled that for a year or so, before we sold it.
been through a few sets of tyres and pads, I'll probably curse myself now but the only issue's I've had is the manifolds going not long after I had it/ along with the standard rouge coolant sensor, and a burst rad pipe!
its treated well and serviced religiously, bodywork has the odd knock and scratch on it now due to work, but even now I honestly don't know what I would change it for.
