Yes, the possibility to program the FBH from the dash vanished I think after about one year of D3 productions. FBH itself remains there, but it is controlled direct by the car itself (and therefore cannot as standard be asked to run before the car is started). I do not recall what the justification for the change was said to be.

This forum however contains a lot of story making the FBH, using an external timer or GSM remote box.

When you say "gone" I assume you mean not working anymore Rolling Eyes

It should still work, but as the above post says, controlled by the car, and totally automatic, basically it 'should' fire up when the outside temp is around 6 deg (or less) and the car cooolant is cold. The climate control should also be set to 'auto' as well.

After starting the engine, if all is well, there will be a tell-tail puff of white smoke from under the FNS wheel arch.

If not, then it may be the FBH has 'locked out' this happens for various reasons, but commonly after 3 'failed starts' - it will then need unlocking using either IDS or Faultmate

04 D2 TD5 - (clocked 189k from new)
52 X-Trail 2.2 SVE

Is this true? Maybe why mine didn't work this morning. This requirement does not feature in the driver's manual.
