FBH question - Early 05 Disco

After all this time I still haven't figured out the FBH. With the cold weather coming up againn it's time I found out. I still have the pre cabin heat option in my settings menu.
1.) Will my fbh also just work with engine temp below 75 and outside temp below 6?
2.) When I programm the timer in the settings menu to heat up at 7.00am this setting has gone once it passed the programmed time. Do I need to programm it every single day?

Your FBH should kick in automatically with no intervention from you.

If you still have the setting in the Settings Menu (which is a little worrying) then yes you need to program it everyday and leave the radio on to allow the timer to stay active.

I say its a little worrying as it would indicate your D3 missed out on the Enhancement Program some years ago. This service action updates the engine management system as well as the air compressor. It also removed the setting allowing you to set a timer for the FBH (with the radio trick).

Personally I would forego the pre heater setting (the engine warms up very quickly anyway even on the coldest days) and have the mods done.

Not sure if this would still be FOC, so you may want to check with your dealer or Land Rover Customer Services.

The pre cabin heater doesn't work which is why it was removed . The only way I could get mine to work was to nip out first thing, 'wake up' the car, set the timer then leave the radio on... alot of faff but I still felt quite smug when the otherhalf was de-icing the other car and the D3 was ready to go.

Many on here have fitted Webasto timers, does the same thing but properly I think.

I am guessing our D3 doesnt have any sort of timer on the FBH. Ours is a 2005 '55' plate S model, its the later one without the xenons but with all the other toys.

So how does the FBH on mine work?

Cheers

Are you absolutely sure that I dont have the enhancement based on the timer option in my settings?

If the vehicle has had the enhancement then the option is removed from the settings menu...if it's still there then that's a very strong indication that it hasn't been done.

@Renton - Yes. It was removed as it was apparently not supposed to be there in the 1st place. If you want the history and about a thousand pages of debate on the FBH timer... use the search, there is a lot to read BTW Wink

@Archeci - The FBH is fully automatic. When it needs to work it will. When the engine temp and or the outside temp are at a certain level, it will kick in. When it does you will know... you will see exhaust output from the FBH under the nearside front wheel arch.

The other thing the Enhancement Program did (or was this a later software update ?) was to change the settings in the heating and ventilation system... it keeps the internal flaps closed while the FBH is running to help avoid exhaust fumes being drawn into the cabin.

Is there a LR upgrade/fix number of some sort for this enhancement which I can point out to the dealer.

I just spoke to them and they had no clue what I as going on about.

Service Action Number A034/A036V6 UK

Who is the dealer ? They should remember this program as it affected ALL MY06/06 D3's and RRS's as well as MY06 RR.

Started on September 2006 but ended July 17th 2008... so you may be out of luck getting it for free.
