Hi all,
some days ago I had an email re. a private message with a question on the use of the ODBII on the FBH. Tonight I was able to log in again and wanted to answer the question but couldn't find the PM. Thought I would answer anyway.
When you want to use the OBDII - USB interface with the Webasto software on the FBH, you DON'T PLUG IT IN on the dashboard just below the steering wheel. You have to make a loom to power the interface at 12V from the car battery and next connect just 1 pin of the OBDII plug to the no. 2 pin of the FBH plug. This is the same pin / wire you use when installing the 1533 timer.
A lot of information is in this topic: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic42516.h...2Bsoftware including how to build the loom. Read it all. On page 6 is a link to the topic where the use of the software and the loom is described.
Best of luck,
Paul

As Paul's bumped this up... I know you let the D3 shut down completely before connecting the diagnostic harness, but do you turn the D3 back on - I'm presuming not so it doesn't get CAN messages from the HVAC, but can anyone confirm? 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

I am just reading the other threads (which I missed so I appreciate the original post in this one), it would seem to suggest from IanNP's information that if you let the car wake during test burn via diag the webasto will shut down?

Ok correction, you have to disconnect CAN:
IanNP wrote:If you leave the Vehicle CAN bus connected it will try and interfere with the Webasto PC programme.
The other thread also mentions running the engine if your voltage is too low for tests, which of course suggests CAN is awake.
So Martin you have to sleep CAN, unplug, then you can do what you like?
EDIT: Hmm I may just be adding more confusion, as I also see:

You can test the FBH with just the webasto software ...this dosent get connected into the can bus .
This will work without the key in the ignition as it takes the 12v direct from the battery G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

If you do connect the can wires in , you can monitor the FBH via the webasto software ...this needs the engine to be running so the car can fire up the FBH
