| FBH inside a garage: Stupid I know |

Another silly FBH question, which has dominated topics since I have been a member (2005).
I remember how excited I was to discover this timed cabin pre-heat hidden in my new 2005 Disco3 menu and how angry I was when it mysteriously disappeared after a service from the dealer. Multiple letters to the dealer and LR afterward got me no where, as they claimed it was not an advertised feature and never should have been there in the first place. Grrrr
Fast forward 8 years and I will finally have the feature back again on my 'still to be negotiated' £50-£51k Demo MY13 HSE Lux. My previous Disco3 lived outside the new one will live in a garage. Now for the silly question, I am assuming it is highly dangerous to set the pre-cabin heater when the car is garaged? Has anyone mistakenly done this? 2017 Disco5 First Edition(On Order)

I think you're asking to be gassed if you try that. Maybe wiggs can come up with a software fix that activates an automatic garage door opener as soon as the park heat starts...  ____

Depends on the size of the garage, if the garage has a high roof and is double with natural ventilation won't be a problem, if it's a small garage that you can only just get the car in fit an extractor fan that can either be timed start or remote start, the type used in toilets correctly positioned would do, or a larger one that starts when garage door is opened. After all engines even lorry engines are run indoors with adequate ventilation. Do not spend any time in the garage after the heater has been run without adequate ventilation, go get the car out ASAP. It can when others can't,

I would'nt be happy with that  it's bad enough getting home in the cold after a short run and the FBH still running parked in the garage.  even for the short time it takes to shut down.  Mantec sump guard.
Prospeed tree slider/steps.
Flack duel battery system.

I honestly wouldn't advise it at all. Leave the disco outside in the cold weather and when its above 15'c then stick it in the garage 
The thing runs for a minute or two after shutdown as well to clear its throat as it were and will still be putting fumes out then.. Last thing you want to do is wander into the garage one night or a member of your family and take a big lungful of the stuff thats been pumped out.
Its not the same as the exhaust from the engine as thats filtered to a certain extent and cleaned up. The FBH exhaust is more of a pipe to direct the exhaust out... FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner

I'd be very cautious about even considering an extractor fan in these circumstances. Don't forget that domestic extractor fans that you might think of are designed only for removing damp air from a bathroom. I seem to recall they only do something like one bathroom vol every 30mins to 2 hrs (though its been a while since I looked at the specs). They are not designed for toxic fume extraction from a large volume like a garage. That would need something much much bigger.
Remember, the fbh doesnt run exhaust through the cat converter (which only really works once up to heat anyway) so there is no possibilitY of CO reduction happening here. Don't mess with carbon monoxide it's lethal.

Sorry M3DPO but that's a ridiculous thing to say! Mate, if you don't know don't guess at it! That frankly  bit of advice could kill someone! Ask yourself a question, would you be as confident if it was your son or daughter going into that situation? .... Didn't think so
It's noticeable under my carport let alone an enclosed space. As has been said elsewhere, exhaust fumes kill and kill quickly. DON'T take the chance! My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription

Can someone explain the difference between the D3 and D4 fbh's ... Mine (D4) starts by timer or remote and switches off as soon as the engines is started

I would not even consider using the timed/remote climate in an enclosed space - even if a extractor fan was fitted. Could be lethal

I definitely wouldn't run the FBH from the remote or timer whilst in the garage. Even if you survive, your car will smell as though a jumbo jet has farted in it!
As for the FBH running when you drive off or park - I wouldn't worry, you'll hopefully remember to open the garage door first and if you have enough ventilation to cope with a 3L SDV6 belching out it's fumes then the extra puff from the FBH won't kill you.
