FBH - fault

Hi,

Switching my (new to me) MY10 D4 XS on this morning I got the message on the nav screen saying "Timed climate unavailable - check fuel and battery"

I had 1/2 tank of fuel and as far as i know the battery is fine (I drove for several hours yesterday and it starts fine).

Does this mean that the FB has logged 3 faults and locked out (like the D3 FBH does)? If so does it just need the faults clearing?

I have the Webasto programme and the leads from when my D3 FBH stopped working - can i use this on the D4 to clear the faults / re-prime with fuel etc. (is the FBH the same on the D4 as on the D3)?

Many thanks

Paul

@Paul, i'm new to these as well and the AU version doesn't have the FBH. I believe the D4 can be 'battery sensitive' for want of a better phrase, so getting the battery checked would take that part out of the equation.

I've had that message also even though car started fine and seemed to be healthy from a battery point of view. It clearly wasn't because the message never came back after I left the battery on charge overnight (which I now do about once a fortnight as my car does lots of short journeys and stop/starts).

The timed climate operation does seem to be very sensitive to the level of battery charge.

If for some reason the battery was already low (maybe lots of use of timed climate previously was depleting it over time?) driving for a couple of hours yesterday won't have made a lot of difference.

It has been said that it takes over 8 hours of continuous driving to recharge a D3/4 battery with no added load i.e. no lights/heated seats/demisters on.

It could of course also be that the battery is on the way out.
