FBH - what else in this weather?!
Got messgaes on the display this morning (and in retrospect, for quite a few times before that) that the FBH hasn't come on owing to a low battery. Now, as far as I can tell, all electrics are working fine, and no starting issues etc. at all. So is this a general fbh fault and I need to do the usual cleaning and reset and suchlike (which I need to read up on, as it used to work ok) or is there a simple fix, or a simple test?

not sure. But I also have a second battery which will charge across if needed so I don't think it's that. And I would expect to have occasional hesitancy etc on starting? though, thinking about it, I can't have the radio on for more than about 20mins with ignition off without a warning. Maybe need a new one?
(and the current recommendation is.....?)
edited to add: I assume that if I connect another in parallel and it works fine, then it's iikely to be the battery. Anything I can read with the iid tool to tell me?

I had the same issue with timed climate & remote fob. All settings fine for both, but no joy. Someone here pointed out weak battery link so changed and then all well. Plus lost lazy starting that I didn't realise I had until th change.
Re battery in parallel, perminantly in parallel or just when ignition is on?

xcentric, Where did you place a second battery ? I want one
Also , using the webasto/timed/remote uses a lot of power so you need a long drive to re-charge.
In winter time I usually top charge once every week when at sub zero celsius temp.
When using two batteries in parallel both batteries need to be good , otherwise the bad one would drain the good .
Also I have noticed that the chassis-engine grounding is rather exposed to salt/weather and in my case I can see that the copperwire is starting to be a bit corroded .
This would be re-placed soon as this could be a future troublemaker

Second battery on the other side of the engine bay - remove the underbody alarm, clear out the battery tray that's there and mover the electrics, fit battery, fuse, wiring. T-Max controller on panel in boot. Works fine, no issues. There's a few threads on here about how to do it.
Will charge it today and see if it works fine tomorrow, then look to replace the battery if that's the case. Yuasa black seems to be a good choice, esp as I have Halfords Trade card.....
