FBH control with landrover button for less than £50
I know there are loads of ways to run the fbh but I wanted to try something for myself and it actually worked Metal auto sump & fluid change (3 hrs)
LR door puddle projectors (10 mins)
Tinted Bonnet wind deflector (10 mins)
All Intercooler pipes and Tbolts (2hrs)
3 injectors replaced so far (30mins)
Sunroof drain pipes both sides 2.5 hrs)
Rear discs, shoes, pads, callipers, flexi hoses, rigid brake line, n/s upper hub carrier bush and rear n/s upper arm (13hrs over 2 days)

Well done.
I reckon I can do it with 2 relays triggered off the indicators.
How did you do it ?

I got 3 main items
This timer I can set it to run for a set time and it has a way of triggering it with 12v
Temperature sensor with a start and stop value
Analog to w-bus communicator PCB speaks the same language as the webasto fbhMetal auto sump & fluid change (3 hrs)

Main supply to the timer and the trigger wire to the head light so when the follow me home lights are switched on either the remote that then supply's power to the temp sensor and In turn supply's the communicator
With the way I've set it up the fuel burner will run for my set time or if the temperature is reaches it will shut down because the temp prob is secured to a coolant pipe so I've got the coolant temperature displayed on my setup
I'm also installing a manual button inside the car to trigger it and a led near the rear view mirror so I can see its active
I'll be adding more photos and wiring diagrams as best as I can draw them lol so it makes abit more sense
Any comment or hints I'd love to hear about many thanksMetal auto sump & fluid change (3 hrs)

How do you command the FBH on? over CAN ?
I thought you could ground a pin to start it up? but I'm not having much luck with that

Pete, you fire the FBH by sending it a W-Bus signal, that's all it will respond to.
That's why there's a picture of a W-Bus generator in the above pics.Mods:

Thanks Martin. That explains some things.
I think I read that the heater on the rover 75 could be started by grounding that input. These are obviously different

I don’t honestly understand why everyone goes batty about the FBH. In cold weather I get in my car with a coat and a hat on and take the latter off as I continue on the journey.D3 07 SE - still going strong

FL1 - gone to Romania

My thinking is that if you pre-heat the engine there will be less wear & tear on the engine, the battery has an easier time and the screen clears a bit quicker. Driving around in a warm car by the time you've done a mile is just a bonus!

Sure, that's logical. Lots of vehicles have some sort of method of getting the vehicle to temperature as quickly as possible - recirculating exhaust gases and all sorts.
I suppose it was more the remote. I had FBH with a remote in my last D3. Never once used it and don't feel I suffered as a result.
I don't know how many cars I have owned but it is dozens and dozens. Not heard it mentioned in a single conversation about one of the other brand of vehicles having remote FBH.
Perhaps there are more wimpy LR owners than other marques D3 07 SE - still going strong
