FBH - auto shut of when engine upto temp |
|
Folks,
I thought that when the FBH came on on a cold morning, when the engine was up to full working temp, then the FBH should shut itself off ??
for a few mornings now, mine starts up ok, but when I finish the journey (a good few miles so engine is defo hot), I shut the engine off but I can hear an electric motor running in the FBH for about 1 minute - presumeably still trying to circulate coolant. What I don t see at this point is any fumes coming from it's tiny exhaust or hear the normal popping sound from it like when you have just started on a cold morning. So it's as if the burner has shut off but not the pump.
Any thoughts? anyone else's do this ?
cheers

It will run to clear any fuel left in the system.

OIC. it kind of makes sense.
On a longer journey when the engine is up to temp though and the burner shuts down, I would have thought it did its close down cycle (purge fuel) as at that point not waiting until you shut the engine off which maybe many miles / hours later.
cheers for the help - its actually a brand new unit as the last one wouldnt start up at all so I had no idea what "normal" behaviour of the unit should be like.

If its still 5 or below the FBH will run even if you traveled 500miles as long as the out side temp is 5 or below ,
The FBH once started does moniter the reading from the coolant temp and then goes into an idle mode and increasing burn as needed to keep the coolant at the correct temp,
This ensures that a full restart is not needed.
The FBH runs the internal cooling fan for 180 seconds after the ignition is switched off after running at full load and 90 seconds if the FBH was in idle mode when the ignition was switched off.
Hope this info help anyone who wants to know?
