Fault identified and cleared - 90 seconds ! |
|
The SRS light displaying continuously meant a failure of the MOT test, so the main dealer workship fiddled about with it for ages looking for a cause. They believed it was something to do with wiring to the right hand crash sensor and proved that to be the case by swapping the two sensors over and the fault remaining the same. Wiring is never covered by warranty so they were asking me to leave vehicle with them for two or three days to strip out wiring. I just don't want to know the labour charge for that at all!
So Disco Mikey had a look at it, worked out it was the airbag to clockspring connector, (which is nowhere near the suggested faul area) disconnected the front crash sensor on his own D3 and got a totally different code, rummaged about and found his airbag removal tool (thanks Hess!), removed airbag and reseated the connector. All in a minute and a half, including searching for the removal tool.
Is this the fastest repair yet? A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Pity it had to go back to Taggarts, and they are convinced it is still a front crash sensor fault
Even more of a pity your warranty doesn't cover the clock spring. Was looking forward to charging them £65 per hour My D3 Build Thread
