Falken Wildpeak AT3 WA tyres |
|
Hey folks, it’s that time again where I have to put my hand in my pocket for a round of new tyres . As BFG still don’t do the all terrain KO2 in a 19” i have been busy umming and aahing about what to get . So , my question is does anybody have any experience or views on the Falken Wildpeak AT3WA in 255/55R19 ??
Thoughts and opinions gratefully received before I dib my hand in my pocket . Thanks in advance 👍

It was the best in the Australian AT tire test. See another thread in this exact forum.
(No personal experience)
I got AT+ myself and have been happy with them for a few (3?) years or so.

They’re a great tyre. Better than K02 in my experience.

Had these fitted yesterday so I can’t really comment yet, but based on 25 miles of icy, foggy, bouncy, single track, sheep-ridden roads driving home in the dark last night, they’re pretty good D4 XS Commercial - MY16 - Corris Grey

I spent a loooong time deciding but ended up back at my first choice.
Always had Falken all seasons of some flavour or another on all my other cars in the past. 2x Astras, an Audi A4 quattro, the current Insignia and now on my D3. I wouldn’t say I’m faithful to a brand but… They’ve never set me wrong.
Never struggled for grip in any winter conditions, across Aberdeenshire or the Highlands. I’d go so far as to say they made the Audi unstoppable (in the good way) while I had it. I’d have that back in a heartbeat.
Just a little good word for the brand there, no affiliation. Going to put a good few hundred miles on the Wildpeaks this weekend so I might have more to say come Monday.
Edit: Just given them a good thrashing from Caithness to Aberdeenshire. Top marks. My DSC was kicking in regularly, but I suspect that’s more related to my droopy leg (leaky strut) as it’s always done it to a certain extent. Turned off DSC and didn’t feel even remotely slippy slidy, no matter how little I remembered of the winding roads down through the shire and some of the rather ambitious cornering speeds I achieved at times!
MPG seems mostly similar too, according the dash readout. Has always sat in the high 31s, reset at the beginning of my journey and still reading 31.8mpg. Not a scientific observation, just a convenient one. Was a similar quarter tank of fuel to get down too which is about the same. Again, non-precise but no major difference. 180ish miles.
There was minimal additional noise over the previous road tyres. Something noticeable right up at 70mph, but not intrusive. Didn’t achieve 70mph all that often mind. D4 XS Commercial - MY16 - Corris Grey

Thanks all. Have been down the garage and had a set of them fitted this morning and I know I’ve only had them 5 mins but they seem really quiet obviously they will get louder with wear but at the mo really impressed and pleased with em.

Aye. Surprisingly quiet for the chunks on them. I heard some rub on full lock in reverse earlier today, despite being same size as previous tyres so mind out for that. I’ll have a look Monday when I’ve finished working and see where it was.
Also, it could be not tyre related as I’ve also been working in the brakes here and there but my indicated economy seems to be creeping up slowly too. D4 XS Commercial - MY16 - Corris Grey

Be careful looking at US or Aus reviews of the wildpeak as the at3wA we get in the UK is not the same as the at3w they get from what I have seen.
