Alright I will take your word on that, but is there enough neg pressure to suck oil past the valve stem seals as you claim?

It doesnt need to suck if the seals are worn oil will run down anyway but this will be helped by the negative manifold pressure and the positive crank case pressure.
Its not even a lot of oil, i have this problem on the wifes BMW X5, drive it staight in for an MOT and it passes the emmisions easily.
leave it ticking over for more than 10mins and it starts to smoke and when you rev it clouds of blue smoke comes out.
Compared to a Discovery its an easy fix but i have no love for this car so it just gets a thicker grade oil and a friendly MOT

That sounds like the classic Common rail injector problem I mentioned earlier on?

Tbh I think you are kind of clutching at straws with the vlave stem seal idea.

I have owned a few cars that have had valve stem seals come adrift and move up the valve stem shaft itself, and they still did not smoke or use oil.

No thoughts ref my faulty oil separator comment. Thinking oil not being separated and being drawn into the intake and bring burnt ?

Have you taken any of the intercooler pipes off to check for the presence of oil?

I would assume the garage have at least done this basic check?

A faulty seperator would cause your issue but its normally combined with high oil consumption.
