| Extra red light on side of D3?? |

My D3 has an extra red light in the side of the rear light cluster. This light is only visible from the side and not the rear and comes on with the normal lights. It is also only fitted on the LHS light, not the right.
Is this normal?

Could you have a continental light by mistake?
The USA headlights have the extra sidelight so maybe the rears do too. Zermatt silver 06 reg.

Cliff may have the answer there. My D3 SE (06) def does`nt have other than 2 tail lights each side.

What you might be seeing is the reflection of the upper tailight into the seprating mirror finish between the upper and lower taillights - from a certain angle it gives the illusion that there are three tailights 
Caught me out the first time I saw it  21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Thanks Cliff,
It does indeed look like I have an 'overseas' market rear light. I just cannot work out how! I know that the lights have provision for an extra side bulb on both front and rear lights, but I seem to recall that it was not posible to get these to work on UK cars. Elsewhere on this forum IIRC someone did try to get these to work and failed. I might see if I can add bulbs to the other three, rather than remove this slightly odd bulb, unless this is a bad idea.

Thanks, but as per my first post this bulb is on the side, not the rear. This 'reflection' has a bulb, holder & wires and is hot to the touch when lit. If you look carefully at the side of your rear light cluster you will see a circle about an inch across, my errant bulb sits in this.
