Extended Roof rails
I'm feeling a bit guilty that I'm asking questions and not being a lot of help elsewhere, promise I'll try to make myself useful ASAP.
Whats the story with the extended roor rails on the D3 to allow roof bars to be fixed above the drivers head?
Where do you get them from? etc.
They would be a better solution for me and my basket than making extended legs.
I also think they look better than the std ones when the basket wouldn't be in place.
Thanks

East to fit and do look good.

Hi from a newbie.
I am looking for a set of these so that I can carry my surfboards down to Cornwall in the Summer. You mentioned that "TLO" sorted a good price. How do I get in touch with him/them?

I'm very interested in getting some of these for my disco, i saw a d3 on the 'land rover monthly' magazine which had been fully rebuilt with these roof rails on and the body styling kit and i fell in love with it.
I would pm 'THE BIG ONE' (ha love that name) but because im new to this website it not let me just yet

Hello and welcome from a fellow newbie.
I have taken delivery of the rails. They are a bit awkward to fit, requiring the strips either side of the roof to be cut at the right point and a hole being drilled for 19mm at a given point (I could not get a 19mm drill bit to do this)
TLO was really helpful though. If you PM me, I'll send you all his contact details so you can ring him direct.

Bought a 20mm one from B&Q for drilling metal, but it would not fit in my drill chuck. Got the strips done by someone with the right gear in the end.
At least I can finally get my surfboards on the roof.
Still watch out for the tailgate when open though if your boards overhang. I have a used 40mm thick piece of foam in the board bag to rest on the rear roof bar, so that the high level brake light doesn't foul the board when the tailgate is open.Andy

I'd already thought of that. That was why I could not get away with the shorter rails. My 8'5" board simply would not fit on the short ones, owing to the way the tailgate opens.....I never had this trouble with my old R reg Tdi!
