Extended Height

I know that when in off road height and you "ground" the car it automatically goes into extended height, but if you are at normal height and "ground" will the car rise automatically ?

I ask this because this morning i needed to turn around in a lane and "the field" i used was a bit more bumpy than I anticipated !

It will not do it automatically, you need to follow the proceedure.

Once grounded,if there is no grounded icon on the dash then if it is safe to do so,lower the car until icon appears on dash, put foot on the brake then press and hold the hieght switch in the up position, you will then feel/see the car rise, release switch once the car has stopped rising.

I will just add that it may not rise equally,it could just be the front that rises or the rear depending on how the car percieves itself to be grounded.

If i have missed something out then someone will be along soon to correct me.

From the manual

If grounded in severe off-road conditions, the system may automatically enter Extended mode. The off-road height indicator flashes and a message will be displayed in the message centre. In extended mode, the suspension will raise above off-road height to assist in clearing the obstacle.

Once extended mode height has been achieved, the driver may request additional lifting if required. This is achieved by pressing and holding the raise switch for longer than 3 seconds while pressing the brake pedal. To cancel extended mode, press the lower switch. Extended mode will automatically be cancelled if the vehicle speed remains greater than 5 km/h (3 mph) for 30 seconds.
Note: Extended mode cannot be selected manually.

I'm not 100% sure if it will do it automatically at normal height but as Brian has said you could always lower the vehicle manually to trick it into going into extended, when I was at the LR Experience centre the instructor lowered the car into access height to ground it and then it went into extended automatically Thumbs Up
