Correct....although my experience is that I've more than had my "money's worth"
Replacement front diff on D3 and D4
Add that to today's suspension compressor, brake calliper and previous front discs, and I'm "quids in".....I'm sure with Sods Law being what it is,if I extend I won't need it,but as said,it does give peace of mind
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Locking rear E-diff
RLD spare wheel protector & sump guard
Extended roof rails
Series 111 mudflaps
Black side tubes,grill and vents
Timed climate remote
Hids4u interior lights

D4 Firenze my2012 HSE
D3 Java 2005 SE manual (sold, sadly, thanks for the memories)
1966 '88 Series 2a....still starts in the morning better than I do...

Well after much deliberation I have been persuaded to take one out with Warranty Direct.
After a bit of "negotiation" over the last 2 days,I have taken out their top Luxury Cover.
This includes wear and tear and main Dealer labour rates (up to £200 per hour) and seems pretty comprehensive.
Annual mileage allowance is 28k,which seems generous also.
I told them I was prepared to pay £650 (against the online quote of £830-odd) which the guy on the phone said they would never agree to,but they did (and I got them to extend to 13 months)
I can pay it up quarterly at no extra cost so all-in-all,I'm happy with that deal

I've saved up a couple of grand and just keep adding to that. This car is now at the start of a 3y warranty so will keep adding to the coffers so by the time we get to 3 years I'll have either a pot of money to contribute to a replacement or I'll be flush enough to avoid paying for a warranty and just carry on saving.....

... or even more likely the missus will grab it for home improvements!! Shocked Shocked

Just had car in for MOT, lots & lots & lots of fails. Very big bill heading my way. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Although most not covered by WD (was dropped down a level of cover), the parts that are covered (hopefully) will cover the premium for the last year. Always a gamble that you'll get more out than you put in, I wonder why WD take that gamble. Shocked

It's a numbers game, pure and simple.....it works exactly like car insurance, those that don't claim subsidise those that do....
If I don't have a failure £650 is gone,if I have a big failure,it looks cheap....
Hopefully you'll get a few bits paid for Del Thumbs Up

Hopefully. They've agreed to a caliper, just need lower steering column and rear prop shaft to get the OK. The other items are Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Still, it's all help to keep me in poverty. Thumbs Up

Spent ages exploring the options, including LR's own product, 3rd party warranties or just keeping the money in the bank for a rainy day, and in the end I have just taken out a 37 month policy with Warranty Direct on our 2012 D4 HSE for £1530 with removal of Betterment clause and based on non-franchised rates. My indie reckons that WD are by far the most compliant provider. Hopefully it'll turn out to be a wise investment and I think I got a reasonable deal for 3 years piece of mind.
