Exporting a Disco and getting a Certificate of Conformity

I rang Land Rover to ask for a CoC as I'm exporting my LHD car out of the EU and the destination country (Israel) requires it.

When they heard that it was for a destination out of the EU they said they wouldn't be able to provide a COC as they are individual for each destination and they don't support it for all countries.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Is this total nonsense and the CoC is generic?
What is the answer!?

It's ok! Israel participate in the Eurovision song contest every year so ring them back and tell them they're in the EU Whistle

Perhaps a quick call to the Israeli embassy in the morning mite point you in the right direction for a start and they should have a department that can advise you. Are you using a specialised vehicle shippers ? What have they advised?

Some info from d'web
Rules for shipping cars to Israel

Shipping cars to Israel from any country can be done by any person within three years from the date of Israeli citizenship. It is allowed for a person holding an Israeli citizenship to import cars up to two years old. If the person is a returning citizen to Israel, then import of cars up to four years of age to Israel is allowed. In addition, shipping of the car to Israel must be done within three months from the date of return to Israel. While shipping cars to Israel all the proper documents like the letter from a certified garage in Israel must be shown to sail smoothly with the process.

It is essential to have proper and clean papers and title of the shipped car to Israel. If not, there would be problem arising even from the country from which the car is getting shipped. For instance, if a person wants to import a car to Israel from USA and if papers relating to the car ownership or any other document is not perfectly in order, the shipment of the car to Israel would not be allowed from the shipped country i.e. USA itself.

Tax to be paid while shipping cars to Israel

There are several taxes to be paid while shipping cars to Israel. One of the mandatory taxes to be paid while shipping cars to Israel is VAT - Value Added Tax. This tax is to be paid irrespective of the country from which the car is to be shipped and irrespective of engine size of car.

Shipment method while shipping cars to Israel

The Shipment method while shipping cars to Israel varies depending on the customer's choice. Many importers prefer to ship cars to Israel in containers. It is possible to carry out shipment of cars to Israel in a separate container or one can ship the car to Israel in the same container along with other domestic goods of shipment in a secured separate place.

Process at Customs while shipping cars to Israel

After the shipment of car from any country to Israel, to get the car cleared from customs authority in Israel, it is essential for any person to have proper valid documents relating to the shipped car. Some of the vital documents needed are an Israeli driver’s license, personal import license, documents relating to insurance on the shipped car, documents showing clear title of the shipped car, original invoice showing purchase of shipped car, documents showing pass in the test of local safety requirements by Israel and citizenship documents.

In the above, Ministry of Transportation grants the personal import license. The Ministry of Transportation has guidelines on importing certain models of car and the grant is done if the shipped car fulfills the same. Having proper knowledge of the same would enable a person while shipping cars to Israel to have all documents well in place beforehand. For instance, it is essential to apply and get an Israel driver's license at least three months before moving to Israel.

The main thrust of the question is not the paperwork on the Israel side - I'd like to know if anyone has obtained a COC from Land Rover UK and if so, did it specify the intended country of destination, or was it just a generic 'proof that the car was built according to EU regulations'?

The reason why I didn't get one in the end, was because I bought an LHD one thinking it was European and it was actually North American spec so no CoC was applicable - wprth checking

As I understand it, the CoC applies only to the country for which that specific vehicle was manufactured. So, a UK market car would get (or rather, already have) a CoC for UK, but not for anywhere else. A UK market car does not conform to the requirements for (eg) Israel, so issuing a CoC for Israel would be impossible.

Yes, I did manage to export it to Israel. A CoC from the UK is valid for any European country and Israel asks for an EU CoC when importing a car from the EU.

I think South Africa may also ask for an EU CoC. If so, calling the LR number above will do it, providing your car is actually a UK or EU model and not a North America/Rest of the World as mine was.

Ukraine 2016 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 Commercial XS Auto Corris GreyDiscovery 4

I had a CoC for my LHD D3 but that came in the paperwork for the car, originally a UK car but exported to Libya to be used by an oil company and then imported back to the UK Where I used it to drive to Finland and back, no issues there but was on UK plates, (eventually sold to someone in Iceland so it had a fair few journeys in its life!

If the car was manufactured in the UK for the UK market (or to UK spec) then LR should be able to provide a CoC...
I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Ring LR customer service, ask for homologation dept. A COC was £100 two years ago when I imported mine. In Portugal they wanted to check engine and chassis numbers and see hi Viz vests and warning triangles.
Direct them to the engine number on top of the left cylinder bank as the one on the block is hard to see.
D1 300TDI ES. just kept going, sold at 170k miles, body beginning to rust
D2 TD5 GS. sold at 140k, chassis beginning to rust
D3 TDV6 SE. 194k Still going.
