expo roof rack

Hi folks

I've searched the forum and can't find the answer to this.
Does the expidition roof rack fit on to rails or directly into the channels?
I have an 05 SE without rails and want to know if i need them.

Fits on the roof rails ie you need Roof Rails to fit an Expo Rack

Local dealer here trying to tell me the rails are not a DIY job and drilling is involved. Everything i've read on here says differently. I guess he's talking b*llocks.
I take it there are no roof racks that will fit wiithout rails?

Does anyone on here want to sell a 2nd hand expo rack to a desperate man before i cough up for a new one? I need one for Monday. Happy to travel within a couple of hours of Glasgow.

I fitted a pair last weekend, can't go wrong as long as you measure the filler strip correctly. took no more than one hour.

if it goes wrong or my screwdriver slips the car's covered in scratches anyway. a few more will add to the patina.
