Experience of TerraFirma TF818 anyone?
My new to me D4/LR4 has side steps fitted, which I hate. I believe that removing the steps requires that I have to buy new plastic sill/rocker covers as the existing ones are for vehicles with the OEM steps fitted.
Cost of these 2 pieces of plastic is ~$300!!
I can get some tree/rock sliders for not much more and I think they'll look better and provide some protection. TerraFirma ones for the LR3 LR4 seem well-priced and I wondered if anyone has fitted?
If so, any views on quality, fit (alignment of holes, etc), would be welcome.

I have a set fitted, alignment was spot on... The only thing I would highly recommend you do is to run a tap through the threads before you fit them.

Thanks - that's great.
Can I confirm that they fit direct to the sill; i.e. all the plastic moulding is removed? Also are you happy with the quality of the finish? I read on a US site that folks had a moan about how they stood up to corrosion. I'm tempted to pull the trigger on these as the additional cost over the moulding seems worth it.PAGODA

The fitting is identical to the following link, they are holding up fine... I may pull them off next year for a raptor coating, see how the our winter salting gets on with them.

Thanks again. Scary vid with all the rust. It’s one reason I want to get shot of my side steps. Plus they constantly hit you in the calf when you get out.PAGODA

Hallo I’m from Italy. I’ve just installed a pair of TF818 on my D3 but I’ve a problem with the bottom side of the sliders. Both cannot arrive to touch the chassis there’s about 15mm of gap. On the lateral side the position is ok. Have you seen a similar problem on your car? Thanks

Hi,
I saw your first post and figured you were having that problem. The side steps are good but they aren't made to a particularly high tolerance in my view. One of mine sits flush to the sills, the other does not. There's a bend in the metal somewhere, which was not possible to identify until the sill was mounted. It's not a complete disaster, but obviously I'd prefer that their quality control was better.
Are you having difficulty mounting yours or is it just that it's annoying you? Despite the small gap mine are solid.PAGODA

I had no difficulty in assembling all the holes correspond to the screws. The problem remains the space between the slider and the frame under the door which does not allow me to tighten the screws. I also cut out parts of the inner side that touched the rear A / C pipes.

What's stopping you being able to tighten the bolts? Is the slider bent? I think mine was a little bent, and as you have read I had to remove about 14" of steel to allow for the rear ac lines.PAGODA

I cannot tighten the screws because I have about 15mm of space between the sheet and the frame. The side part, on the other hand, no longer has room to recover in height.

OK - I'm afraid I don't really understand the issue. You must be able to see where the sliders are bent (assuming your vehicle is straight!)
Something, clearly, is wrong. As I said, the fit on mine wasn't great, but I was able to get them on easily enough. I think yours must be warped/bent.PAGODA

my vehicle is straight has never had an accident. The problem is the height of the slider profile, which is too high and does not copy the frame profile. Thus the lower part remains detached from the frame.
