A 387 AKF
Back in '83 , I had a new Ford Escort.
I'd had it about a month when I hit a piece of traffic cone on the M6.
The number plate shattered and fell off.....
The next day we went to a local garage/auto supplies and they made another.
Twenty minutes and 6 Quid later ,back on the road and all legal.
When I took it in for an oil change 5 months after, the mech. pointed out that the
front plate was A 378 AKF.
Not a camera anywhere those days.

I fancied some tail pipes as well, rather than a sports system. In fact I spoke to a number of exhaust guys at Autosports. One manufacture – I think it was Powerflow, had a rectangular tail trim approx 2†high by 6†wide in old money.
By having the inlet off set to one side this would overcome the Disco 3 problem with the exhaust at the extremities of the cars width, which IMHO make the current tail trims look a bit naff.
When fitted this would give the impression of the exhaust being more inboard.
These guys reckoned about £60 per side in polished stainless

That sort of shape, but much better quality.

Agree, there is no angle, so if attached it will point downwards.
Mine are starting to show signs of rust.
This is at the point where the chrome meets the black finish.
Need to try some metal polish to stave this off.
Anyone else experiencing this?🏴
I suppose you could do it the 'Bentley' way. Apparently my lad says (he claims to WORK their) the exhaust trims are mounted to the rear apron, and do not touch the exhaust at all, and there is also a flap on the exhaust which shuts at low speed making the exhaust note quieter around town.

I still don't see the problem. I guess upwards of 5,000 people can look at my D3 every week as I go about my business. What do I do about them
Agree with the comment as with doing 600 motorway miles this week many more people will see the reg than on Disco3.co.uk! Don't think the police would be too chuffed if we all blanked the letters on our reg's like the picture on my original post.Wish I had a D3, but at least I now have a Landie - YIPEE

Got a similar problem Ron after just a few weeks they are looking a bit pitted, but not yet rusting. Think the only thing to do is polish them twice a week if I could be bothered! Think I will just replace them with another pair when they get too bad.Wish I had a D3, but at least I now have a Landie - YIPEE

I just used a bit of T-Cut on mine the last time I washed the car, and they came up like new, although a bit of elbow grease was required.........

mine seem to be OK. Only the clamps have rusted. Only use "wash'n'wax" as the usual car wash method of choice. Maybe the wax has helped.

Just gave mine a polish with Autosol.
Rust marks have now gone!
[But rust will still be there.]🏴
