Hi all,
So upgraded (I think) from my D3 to a 2012 D4. All good except for one thing, there is a very audible rattle from the exhaust area when the car is idling. I've been under and checked all the hangers are present and correct and had a poke around to make sure the heat shield isn't touching the exhaust anywhere. I believe it is the exhaust because if I put my foot on the CAT area or apply a bit of pressure with a screwdriver, the rattling does mostly stop.
The vibrations (and the noise of course) seem to cycle from stronger to weaker over a second or two. I can feel the vibrations coming all the through to the down pipe from the manifold.
So I have a few questions for anyone willing to have a stab:
Is that sort of vibration normal?
Can the CAT itself be causing the noise if something has broken loose inside?
Any suggestions of things I can check beyond the above?
Thanks
