Excessive Oil Consumption

Big Cry Just collected my 2006 D3 back from my local dealer having sorted out a bad plug connection causing a red air bag warning light, and was amazed and bemused to be charged for 1.5 ltrs of engine oil which was required after only 2000 miles. I was informed that this normal for the first 8000 miles Surprised . Anyone else had this problem or even this explanation. Any advice would be appreciated

The engine block is porous and may absorb around a litre of oil within the first 10k Wink

As DG said, mine needed a litre of oil after it had done 2k miles, not used any since then.

There is a service action bulletin (303-Q002) relating to excessive oil consumption on some 06MY TDV6's VIN range LA 6A352586 - LA 6A378692 issued 9th February 2007
Basically, if you have less than 5k miles - or you selling dealer believes you may have less than 5k miles - you should receive a letter inviting you to visit the selling dealer to have the oil level checked and topped up as necassary FoC. Symptoms: severe engine noise including heavy rattling or knocking
