Examples of LR corp as the good guys.

The D3/4 is a mighty complicated vehicle. Are there any examples of Land Rover putting their hands up and admitting a mistake with the build/design, maybe changing a component and doing the right thing for owners?
I type this in the spirit of balance – the forum is full of examples of LR sticking two fingers up to owners (e.g. crankshaft lottery). Please give me a warm feeling inside by telling me of times LR have behaved like we would want them to and not just bent us over.

I can give you an Audi example from my time with their brand... yet to experience a JLR one and hope I don't need to...

Well I am mightily impressed with JLR...
Once with my wife’s Evoque which developed a leak on the original windscreen.... the warranty company ducked it but JLR settled it without issue...

The other time with my second RRS L494 which had an annoying creak in hot weather from somewhere in the roof area which resulted in them taking the entire panoramic roof and replacing it...

The third time with my current SVR which has got a slight rattle in the tailgate...again refused by the warranty company but is being fully replaced for by JLR....

Great service in my book.... and the cars are awesome! Well pleased!

Very much dealer dependent in my experience.

My direct dealings with JLR have been far from satisfactory.

United Kingdom 2016 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 Commercial Auto Barolo BlackDiscovery 4

Couple of examples - one of which is very much above and beyond the call of duty...

My first D4 Commercial was on order with the usual JLR lead times but this was all ordered in a timely fashion to tie in with the return of an existing vehicle only to then find that JLR were having issues with engine supply and that any available engines seemed to be disappearing into high margin RRS and the like.

This left me with the potential of no vehicle, and no real news on progress for my D4.

OK, I may have stamped my feet a couple of times (!) but their fleet sales chap found me a Demonstrator which was on FOC loan for around 5 months until my vehicle turned up... brilliant service and response.

A later D4 Commercial spat its' engine a week before we were due to spend three weeks in France - big yellow taxi to the local dealer who got approval for the replacement engine, stripped the vehicle and fitted the new engine in just four days...

Hope these qualify as 'good news' stories!

D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)
D1 300TDi... 2" lift, HD bumpers (both), detachable tow hitch, 9,500lb winch, 235/85/16 muds and plenty of other toys (gone to make way for the next toy...)

Smiles per Mile - Tornado Motorsports caged Evo 3... 100" Defender look-alike, with Range Rover running gear - all fully IVA'd and registered!

When i had my D4 into LR in Doncaster for service and belts to be done i couldnt really fault the service.

Even when the rear belt through a wobbly 2 days later i couldnt really fault them. They arranged an Evoque courtesy car within a couple of hours, which i collected from the dealership. Then as the work took longer than expected, they actually sold my courtesy car, but arranged a swap into a newly delivered DS literally straight off the transporter.
Then as a good will, as the body was off anyway, replaced all the flexi brake pipes for £75 which was a big saving.

LR Chesterfield are different matter all together and i wouldnt touch them with rotten bargepole no matter what.

I got a wooden “tuck box” hamper sent from LR HQ.
Was a “sorry” for when the transfer box on my new D3 went in 2005.

Still got the box to this day .... keep my stash of crisps & nuts in it.
