Every warning light on, hazzards on, locks going, wont start

Hi ,

D3 TDV6 2006

Recently replaced the EPB module complete with cables (worst job ever wish I hadnt bothered ), new rear wheel bearings , new rear knuckle bushes , new rear backing plates.

Put it all back together , went to start it , all the warning lights on , E on dash hazzards going locks going on and off , wont start.

Battery wasnt great so put a new one in , same problem.

Got the following errors on diag tool.

I am guessing i have broken or displaced some wiring somewhere whilst messing about , any advice on where to start or how to test would be gratefully received , now two weeks into a 1 day job and losing the will....

maybe the EPB module needs programming. I think I read that recently ?

Otherwise a CAN BUS issue

Thanks for the quick response have tried with the EPB plugged in and also not plugged in , all the same errors.

I have read in some places they do, others say not , cant see to find a definative answer on that.

Thanks

I think it needs to be plugged in for can bus traffic

As mentioned the issues are typical of a break in the HSCAN bus, either by wiring issue or faulty/incorrect module. My first action would be to plug the old module back in and see what happens. You should be able to do this by having the old module loose and just moving the connector.
If you can start the car and flashing etc is gone, then the new module is your problem. If the problems persist, then you have a wiring issue.

Check the part number to ensure you didn’t fit a D4 one ?

Thanks for feedback, good for future searches Thumbs Up

One possibility is that you swap the circuit board from your old unit to the new unit "in situ". Assuming that it was a mechanical fault on your old module.
I cannot guarantee compatibility between the ebay module motor/sensor and the old electronics, but "should work" Very Happy
I've changed the circuit board in place and it's not too difficult, at least without the locking diff.

update....

I have been backwards and forwards with the place I got the part from , slow to respond and now not reponding so figuring i had nothing to lose I did what you suggested and swapped the control boards over.

Car now starts which is a step in the right direction, but shes dropped to her belly and now has other errors arrrggghhhhh , also manaaged to snap the diff breather vent pipe off at the same time which was particilarly stupid of me.... doh...

Cant hear the compressor running either when I start it up.

Too bad Sad it seems you still have some communication issues on the canbus. Are you confident all concerned connectors are firmly in place?
I would have expected the original control board to behave even though it's placed in a pattern module, so perhaps take a close look at wiring to ensure nothing has been damaged in the process?

If that checks out, perhaps the remaining option is finding a genuine new or 2nd hand module, or if your old one can be repaired?

Apologies if I sent you down the wrong path Rolling Eyes

No need to apologise !

The parking brake is working completly fine now so not convinced its that.

Will take it for a drive up wth road later and see if that does any good , when i had steering sensor problems before if didnt clear properly until it was driven down the road, or that could have been complete conicidence who knows !

Cheers

They're either "pending" or intermittent faults so clear them and then go for a drive. Make sure the battery is above 12.5v.
