Day 30
Decided to drive west along the Bohinjka valley for some sightseeing. Went to the 78m waterfall at the end. Impressive how it has a small pool part way down. Photo does not do it justice.

Nice coffee and strudel on way back. Now going for a final walk around part of the lake with beer at turning point to watch the chaos of coach loads of tourists getting on and off coaches that ferry them to boats that take them to the island in the lake. There they pay Euro 4 to ring the bell in the church. I will be glad to stop hearing that bloody bell. Andi, the thing that makes going home so enjoyable is knowing that I don’t have to go to work. A new adventure at home.

Arrived at Natterer See just outside Innsbruck. The A100 was not quite as nice as I recalled but we made good time - 15 mins longer than long motorway route. Caravan and Disco performed well. Now done over 182000 mikes and over 2000 on this trip.
Hard to pick which view of pitch is best. This is one view ......

Dinner was a strange but enjoyable combination of paella with Slovenian sausages and beer with an Austrian Alps view.

Walking in the low hills here is easy- well signposted walks a pleasure after some of the dodgy French and Italian signs. Most tell you the destination and or time or distance. Even with a freebie map from reception the lowland walks are navigable. Plenty from the Natterer See campsite.
Those staying on campsite receive a tourist pass. That provides free bus transport in area and discounts at attractions. If you have a dog, it has to be muzzled to travel on buses and I suspect the cable cars. I didn't say anything when you said you were going to Bled, but it sounds as though your experience was the same as ours 2 years ago - nice place, shame about the tourists

Have you tried the Kaiserschmarrn yet ? The Austrians all rave about it but to me it's just a different take on a pancake

Brian, I know what you mean about tourists. We spent a few hours outside under a canopy of a bar in Milano on the south side of lake Bled and watched the comings and goings of mostly Chinese tourists. They would get dropped the coach which then went to park outside Bled. The passengers meanwhile extended selfie sticks and took photos of themselves with everything (which included our dogs at one stage). Then on to a little boat to be rowed to the island to ring the bell, wait half an hour and then get rowed back to a different location so they could walk the last 500 metres which seemed long enough for the coach driver to get back to pick them up at the drop off place. Even in heavy rain the routine remained the same.

After four weeks of quiet sites, things have now got very busy with families- mostly German. I now realise they have bank holidays on 1st, 10th, 21st and 31st May. Great walking in the low pastures. A bit wile the sound of music. Unlike the campsite which is the sound of crying babies Half the infants under six months in Germany must be on our site. That is perhaps the only downside. Upsides were the walks and the super loos with sound proof doors and showers larger than in most hotels.

This is the map we relied upon for lowland walks But still great views and up out of the valley) around Innsbruck. Hardly an OS map but with fine weather and good signage it was good enough provided you were happy to do an extra mile to get back when the path took a longer route than expected. We are staying in Natters See in south west corner of map.

Easy drive up to Lake Konstance. Staying at Camping gutshoff Badhütten. First impressions were not good - hundreds of rough looking permanent caravans and 50cents to have a shower. But where we are pitched is quiet and empty. So, prepared to give it a chance. I did have to use my tool kit to remove limescale from the tap threads!
