Yes, yet another EPB question...I am doing rear discs & pads and need some advice. And yes I have Bodsy's excellent guide in front me of, still need some clarification on a few things though
Does the car tell me if I've succesfully put it into EPB service mode ? I tried the sequence in the guide a couple of times but how do I know that it worked ? There was no noises or indications in the display that the EPB module did anything. Also, is it correct to assume that all "service mode" does is release the cable tension a bit ?
I went ahead anyway and removed the rear calipers, discs & pads. According to the guide, the adjustment wheels on the EPB are supposed to move in clicks. Mine are moving, but not really in clicks, and they are quite tight. Is this because I didnt succesfully get it into service mode ? I have been able to release the shoe tension enough to get the discs off though.

It won't tell you if it's in Service Mode
Peter, the adjuster doesn't really 'click' as such, it's just a description of the knuled adjuster bits. They do' kind of click if they're tight against the spring.
Service Mode just makes sure that it stays out. Really you should use Mount Mode, but you won't get that unless you have a Faultmate MSV2 or other similar system.
Sounds like you're doing it fine. Bodsys Brake Bible

Puzzling this - I am certain the first time I put mine into service mode it told me on the dash however it didn't the second or third time so I shared the same concern as peterm?
Maybe its just me cos the first time I saw the Italian Job I swear I saw the gold fall out the back of that bus?

Hi, have also benefitted recently from Bodsy's great guide and PM support! Curious to know did you have a squealing epb before service? Did the service solve it? What sort of condition were your rear discs and shoes?

I didnt have any squealing. The discs really needed changing though, pads werent so bad. And my rear left wheel was getting hot sometimes. I may need a new caliper as well, or perhaps just the EPB adjustment. We'll see.
