| EPB Screech after tyre change |

Can I consult the hive mind please? Recently (less than 1500 miles ago) done new EPB shoes with adjustment etc per Bodsy. All good.
Today had all tyres changed, they had the car in the sky on 4 trolley jacks. After lowering and letting the suspension relevel, it did drop with a bit of a clunk on the offside rear.
After leaving I now have the screech of death, constant flashing EPB light, error etc. Tried the iid unjam, clear faults etc but still got the same, and on trying to apply it I still get the screech.
What next? Just a standard adjustment do you think? Could lifting it high have disturbed the cables? I normally jack under the arms, but they jacked the body, so the wheels will have been hanging at max suspension, so this may make sense. Or is there another known correlation between jacking and EPB issues? 2006 Java Black Metropolis - my first dip into the D3 world!

It should not make any difference, did they put the car in Low range, if so this pulls the epb much harder with more force.
If it's screeching when applied and you have tried the unjam procedure then you need to remove the epb cover and unjam it manually.

Did they manage to catch the handbrake cable?
The cables rub through the little stainless guid clip on the susp arm, maybe the jack was the final straw, ie it was going to die anyway it just so happened they made it happen earlier?

OK thanks. Its possible they put it on low range, he was revving it to get the suspension to move, so anything is possible! (I told him to try shutting the door, which he did but still persisted in revving it)
When I do the unjam and then apply, you can hear it winding, then stops, then winds again and then the screech. Sounds like I need to look up the unjam procedure! 2006 Java Black Metropolis - my first dip into the D3 world!

I think the most importnat thing here is to let us know the tyre dealers name, so we can all avoid going there!

It sounds like a cable has snapped or come off the shoe clip, whichever it needs the the disc's or the epb cover removing to find out.
And why was the idiot was revving the engine, its a electric pump not engine driven lol..

More revs gives more 'lectric mate. They tort us dat at spanner-frowing skool. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

So fingers crossed it's sorted. Handbrake cable had come off, took a while too get enough cable to pull it thorough and then remounted it, swore a lot putting the shoes back on, adjusted just that side, now seems to be ok. Despite them using a torque wrench the wheelnuts were all done up tight as fook.
Suspect the springy bit is a bit ancient and allowed it to come disconnected, might need to investigate how you change them for next time the brakes are off.

All tyre fitters are the same, air gun the nuts up to one millions lbsft then check with a torque wrench set to 90 lbsft!
I always smile when people tell me how good their tyre fitting place is as they use a torque wrench

We have similar tire fitters here..... only way to avoid is DIY or re-check torque yourself afterwards.

This is so true.
It makes me cringe when i see them removing the locking wheel nuts with the windy gun. Andrew
