EPB Problems check on warranty position first

After having warranty jobs done at local stealers (Farnells in Bradford), I was told that any funny noises on the EPB on higher mileage vehicles may not be covered as land Rover now say that it comes under general wear and tear - as with normal handbrakes.

SO if you get a problem with it at over 40k (mine has 48k on and they questioned it) it is best to ask if the problem will be covered.

It is not just the EPB, they are questioning my clutch failure at only 15000 miles, perhaps LR are feeling the world finacial slow down and cutting back on warranty claims. Whistle

With Sales being 60% down, they must be feeling the pinch.

Farnell in Bradford did not sell one new car in a week - they did sell 23 second hand though, so what does that say?

spooky.

mine is in for the same issue!

mine is nearly 3 years old 52k miles and after my last off road event it started squealing horribly.

apparently the drums are shiny and shoes are worn, which i suppose is possible after 52k miles, but to the tune of £260 I am not best pleased. Does anyone have a strip and inspection guide because if it needs replacing again i will do it myself.

however if the park brake squeaks again i will be having vociferous words!

could be worse i suppose, my BMW bike doesn't show neutral properly so bike dealers said no worries we can replace the gear selector switch...the part was a mere snip at £170! suffice it to say I can live with the Neutral light not always coming on! Meanwhile they had to strip it and clean anyway and it now works perfectly!

well I have a car with a normal handbrake and it is still in tip top condition even after 360 000 km's. the pads on a handbrake are for static use and should last the life of the vehicle IMO so they can stick that attitude up their Censored .

Possible only if they have been binding and have worn away. A fault / miss-adjustment etc.

The EPB is used only to hold the vehicle not slow it down, except for emergency application by raising the switch manually whilst the D3 is moving.

I done a how-to a while back.

On the other hand though, £260 is a good price if that includes labour Thumbs Up

got it done, and haggling with the dealer about the price Very Happy

EPB works perfectly, now.

Interesting comment Simon, I was doing an extended offroad course, then doing some hand brake turns in the mud! so probably finsihed it off good and proper Laughing

Dealer mentioned they found "some mud" under the car Laughing
