epb on a manual disco3 tdv6s can you override off
to any owner of a manual series3 discovery .just had a new epb fitted after having some one run into the back of me. garage that fitted it under insurance were not discovery specialists ,this has caused a lot of problems and weeks of waiting to get car back they now want to return car to me ,but I have always been able to override hand brake off by holding down epb switch when turning off engin and removing key ever since ive had the car .now they are saying this is impossible to do and are being backed up by local dealership .basically saying im wrong .can any one else turn off epb and leave car in gear if they want pleasehelp

My manual D3 was always hold the epb switch down and remove key to prevent activation, removal of the key otherwise activated it

biffysun thank you for confirming my post I am having trouble with this garage and it has been going on for weeks .keep on calling insurance company telling them that this garage does not know what they are doing , why the local dealership is backing them I do not know
just to recap I could hold down epb switch turn off engine withdraw key and epb would not engage ,so if handbrake started screaming I did not leave it to destroy itself giving me time to have epb cleaned and sorted is this how you have known it to be on your disco

This technique does not work on my manual and never has despite trying it.
This has been discussed before and I seem to recall it worked on all autos but very few manuals but for the life of me I cannot recall why this was.

epb override
cheers for your reply nappy
have spoken to mechanic who replaced my epb 1 year ago he has spoken to auto electrician who programmed the unit and he says yes he programmed it that way so I can leave it off and just in gear
incase it ever starts screaming it makes sense really to have control over whether you want it on or not so now back on to insurance again
I will take my car back today and take it to mechanic I trust

It worked on my 2005 Manual D3. Just checked and that instruction is on page 196 in my Drivers handbook about holding the switch down to inhibit operation ! Cannot see how dealer can deny it.
My 2005 Manual S D3 did it too, thought it was standard on all manuals
