EPB jammed again

The EPB has jammed on my wife's 2012 D4 for the second time in the last few months, accompanied by a horrendous screeching noise that would waken the dead. LR assistance have been called and she should be home soon. Car is under extended LR warranty.

I don't yet know the diagnosis but I am wondering if I should be pressing the dealer to replace the whole unit under warranty, given that this looks like a recurring theme.

Has it a good service history, when were the rear brakes last looked at and do you go off road/drive through lots of water?

Car has full LR service history, doesn't do any proper off roading (tows a horsebox through a field regularly though) and definitely doesn't go through deep water (except when the it rains like it only can in Glasgow !)......

cheers

Sorry - meant to say - I guess rear brakes would be last looked at a year ago at service (it's booked in for service again next week).

Mine went X2 in 6 months - just needed an adjustment and a new spring, but if you are under warranty, push for it.

Indy told me the Actuators on D4's are quite tough, they only get wrecked when folk try to use them after they have jammed on and then been manually released without being re-set correctly

I had this problem after only apprx 3 months of having a new EPB fitted with all new shoes etc. Correct bedding in procedure was followed at the time. However it would appear that a certain amount of further bedding in takes place under normal use and the shoe adjustment needs taking up. In my case the EPB jammed as there was too much travel. My local indy took the cover off the EPB, unjammed it and readjusted the shoes and now all is fine.

thanks for all the replies guys. Car goes into dealer tomorrow and wife should get a replacement via LR Assist and the warranty (hopefully with a tow bar as the horse has a vet visit on Tuesday)......
