I still drive without fuse 42. Mad

Tried to put it in servicemode with the IIDTOOL, then it makes a terrible noise.

Have checked both brakewires and brakeshoes.

Only thing that makes sense is an internal electric error in the EPB module.
Think I have to replace it Evil or Very Mad

When you opened the epb could you drive the motor in both directions and did the (cable pullers) move along the screw thread in both directions. If so, epb seems okay

It went both ways. And the cables followed.
The code says something about force sensor, so maybe it is the sensor itself. Been trying to get hands on a second hand unit to swap the force sensor.

As the epb works and the cables move ok I would possibly check the sensor wiring for something missing

I have this same issue, jumped in the car yesterday went in to reverse (can't remember if I released the EPB) there was a bit of a bang and then the dash lights came on as you say.

My EPB is silent I can't hear any motor running, I took it to a local garage and the force sensor was highlighted, I can't find much info on this, so will watch with interest.

Just have to turn the stereo up for now. Confused

If you have the warning sound constantly, pull fuse 41 and let the car go to sleep. Then it's silent afterwards.

Confirmed with the garage it's a C1A47 error, will this stop the whole unit working immediately ?

I had this issue a few weeks ago and there was a wire at the connector to the brake assembly that had broken. I had enough slack to access it by removing the spare tire and put in a splice and all is good as far as the EPB. Still having suspension issues although they are unrelated it seems.

Was it visually noticeable, or did you have to run tests?

Hello.

Got a amber and red flashing handbrake light + alarming sound when driving.
Not been able to read codes but tried "everything"

The brakes are new, and not long ago adjusted the right way. Worked great until suddenly the handbrake fault message.

-Epb module not seized up, applying power directly on the motor it works fine.
-Tried another handbrake switch.
-Changed brakeswitch.
-All fuses tested/checked.
-checked continuity from epb module connector-epb switch-instrument cluster-ignition-key in- 2xGnd-2xVbatt with no volt drop.

Not sure what to do next, can it be Bus related? Or the circuit board inside the EPB module?
Will try to get the codes read, but not sure it will get me any further.

Grateful for any suggestions.

So I got to the bottom of this issue today, although it was saying the code mentioned above, the whole EPB was shot, found an amazing service on eBay who were lucky to be local, total refurb of motor, gears and sensor replaced in an hour, fitted it back and all is good.
He did say to be mindful of the wedge adjustment, as it’s overlooked usually.

I know the owners of my local garage, so was able to do some of the work myself.

Wedge adjustment?

Could you give me the name on the refurber company? Smile

Happy days!

After measuring all wires to the ECU with no errors found, I started considering a new ECU as the next step. Ripped the whole unit out with cables (one **LL off a jobb) and took it apart. Inspected the mainboard thinking off burned gates or components... Nothing.
The force sensor seemed fine. Loosing my head, spending £6-700 on a part, without knowing why.
Finally took off the chipboard (the actual sensor) welded on the force sensor housing, and noticed the flex cable having a small bend/crack where it enters the housing. A little wiggle and two off the conductive paths clearly was broken off.

Conclusion, having a "force sensor electric failure" code, probably means the force sensor is broken Laughing
Who figure Whistle Laughing

Not very common failure it seems, only found 3 examples on internet, and non off them came to a conclusion. And most common comments: The ECU never fails, check EVERYTHING else.

Will update when installed on car, and hopefully without errors Mr. Green
