| EPB and 'emergency release' |

Hi all, I know this topic has been covered many times but nothing seems to relate to what happened to me last night. Basically I'd just collected my kids (1 and 3) and with no warning the EPB decided to jam on. I heard a huge screeeeeeeech and then the warning on the dash, the orange light and the flashing red EPB light. So I accessed the cable (which I'd already looped a big zip-tie through in anticipation of needing it one day and wrenched it hard enough to snap the zip-tie. Nothing. Handbrake still on. I tried moving the car slightly to see if I could free it off that way but no dice. I got my wheel brace through the cable loop and yanked that so hard I've injured my shoulder, still nothing. Gave up and rang the RAC, who turned up and reliably informed me that the problem was in "the rear calipers...". I ended up on a flatbed with two extremely tired and hungry children.
Anyway, while I was waiting for the truck I noticed that the offside wheel was free, only the nearside was stuck. I drove round in a small circle in case the heat might help free it off but no joy. So if only one wheel is stuck on, is it likely to be a problem in the handbrake mechanism on that wheel? I don't actually know whether the emergency release did release one wheel or not. Ironically it was on ln my list for cleaning and inspection at its service next month, despite never having had a problem with the handbrake!
It's outside the Indy (hopefully) so I'll find out later I guess. Fingers crossed it isn't the electronic module... Jaguar Land Rover: "Building great cars, badly."

Not what you want when you’ve got kids in the back adding to the problem, sounds like your modules overreached and jammed, on one side, might be salvageable if no damage has been done and it can be reset, Disco Mike has done this successfully, looks like the handbrake shoes need attention which you had on your list to do, Hope you get it sorted ok, let us know how you get on

Seems I need a new EPB module and handbrake shoes, total bill £1131. The wife says we can get divorced for less.
What's that sticker you see on the back of Land Rovers...

Theres a good post on here from Disco_Mikey which shows an EPB fix which has worked for many and avoided a replacement unit, see here............

Well cheers for the info, all I got was "Yeah, that won't fix it." Still, it's done now, I'm £1100 poorer and I can get back to playing breakdown bingo. Jaguar Land Rover: "Building great cars, badly."
