Mine squealed like a pig, stealership told me the usual thing,
"you've been using it off road, it should be returned to the garage for overhaul every time you do that, cos you didn't you've worn the shoes and the drums away, to fix it will cost £360 + VAT"
Once I'd stopped laughing,,,,I got the thing adjusted by land rover assist who very kindly showed me how! that was 20K, A Morocco trip and several off road jaunts ago one with some serious mud at Bala and still no problem, I've even checked it for adjustment since and it's still shown to be perfectly adjusted.
Problems with the dealerships, cos there's no visual check as there is in the case of a manual handbrake ie
'Pull lever, knuckles hit the roof lining adjust hand brake!,,,,,,,,
Pull Lever, knuckles don't hit roof lining don't adjust'
The hassle for a fitter to reset the hand brake every service is just too much so it gets left.
I'm sure most of you guy's have looked in to the workings of the EPB more than I and I'm sure that there are ways that it's design could be improved but my experience is more to do with SOME poor stealerships not the
system.
One thing that will increase the adjustment interval is make sure the cars stationary before you apply the brake,
if you've every accidentally been rolling when applying it the hand brake motor sounds very unhappy about it!!!
no squeal just lots of grunting, that can't be good!!!
But like I said the last 20K I've come to love it again!!!

Did you adjust it properly by loosening the allen bolt on the cable turning the adjuster putting a torque wrench on the hub nut Etc Etc. Or did you simply adjust the adjuster until it seemed to work ok:?:In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Popped into dealer to get some things fixed under warranty and apparently Land Rover have told the dealers yesterday that they are now going to accept EPB warranty claims for upto 2 years and 24k miles for adjustment problems etc. They thought I might be interested as I had the problem on mine over Christmas and there had been some argument over the warranty
Might be worth asking if you have problems.

I don't know the full details of what is and isn't excluded as mine has been fixed, but it is a definite change of policy.

I wonder why they are 'cutting back' on the warranty terms? surely this IS a manufacturing/design problem and should be part of the original warranty?

Normally "adjustment" issue's were only under warranty for the 1st year apparently. Not sure what this means, but maybe there will be less argument over repairs for screaming EPB's.

It's all . It's a non customer serviceable unit and it's not subject to wear and tear, well certainly not in such a short timespan of say 3 years + ....therefore any failiure must be warranty related. To say its contaminated or 'you've taken it off-road sir' is nonsense ....the unit isnt fit for purpose ....period 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
top comment DG, my feelings too
